  • Bmfa insurance

Hi all, I don't yet belong to a club but looking to be a guest at a friends club tomorrow. It was suggested I get bmfa insurance. Can this be done online tonight?

I have only found this link http://www.bmfa.org/about/applicationForm.pdf but from what I have read I need the below which is not mentioned on the form

    http://www.bmfa.org/about/join.html"
    3) COUNTRY MEMBERS. Individual membership is open to applicants not belonging to an affiliated club, such members being known as Country Members.

    Any advise welcome

If the club is BMFA affiliated you should be able to fly as a guest under there insurance.

As far as I'm aware you can't get BMFA insurance online immediately. Ou either fill out the form and send it off to the BMFA and then wait a couple of weeks for the insurance paperwork.

Or you can join an affiliated club: many can provide BMFA insurance on joining so you can fly same day. If your friend's club is also one you intend to join, this may be an option for you tomorrow.

Your best off just giving them a call, only takes 5 mins to sort out over the phone.

I think they are only open usual office hours though so not much help of your looking to get cover for tomorrow

I had same problem and you have to pay by check. This day and age is ridiculous. I joined rcha online £20 and 10 mins later they email insurance cert. Check them out highly recommend.

I don't think it can be done online, you may be able to do it over the phone though.

But it's most common for it too be done through the club, you give the club a cheque for the required amount and your details, and they do the rest for you, it usually take 2-3 weeks for it too process.

If your club allows it, you can get RCHA insurance, that can be done online

As a guest flyer your allowed 3 fights and your covered by BMFA insurance without joining either there club or BMFA, all BMFA affiliated clubs should be aware of this.

In a way its like a try before you buy, to give new starters go before paying out on gear etc.
Which works great with planks, but not many clubs buddy up on heli's.

When you do go don't be pushed into thinking you have to sign up there and then, as its not the case.

                    Hope it helps
