  • Hirobo shuttle z

I'm 29 and live in Braintree essex , I have been working for a roof truss company since i was 16 and had the best boss in the world, sadly he died in 2006 and since then i have been helping his wife with gardening ect ect.

A week ago i was sorting out there attic an came across the shuttle an she gave it to me and said he would have wanted me to have it .

So i got new battery's for it and got chargers ect ect....

Now i need someone to help me as i don't want to hurt her through not being experienced.

As she has great value to me.

If there is anyone in my area can you help?
It has a sanwa conquest mk2 transmitter an i don't no how to use that either.

Hi, have you spoken to Colin from Colin Bliss Models in Maldon, he is Mr Hirobo & does lessons in Stowe Maries (not to far from you), I would highly recommend Darren from Rapid Rotors In Kelvendon

We fly here (Google Maps co-ordinates) 52.069615,0.260603

Come along if you fancy it.

I had a Shuttle many years (10+) ago as my very first heli and used to fly it on a Sanwa transmitter (but not a Conquest).

any good model shop should know what a shuttle is
it was the heli to have to learn on for years
the raptor 30 took it no1 spot and now the align models are flavour of the month

there are a few models of the shuttle the z/zx/zxx/zts/plus/plus 2
the model has evolved over a period of time but it still remains very similar to the original model
the older models can be updated to the newer spec
ebay is a good place for cheap spares

            with the radio
make sure you have good batteries
on the older sanwa radio systems and servos the wiring plugs were wired up differently to the now std way of the plug wire arrangement
if you replace a servo or battery make 100% sure the wires are in the correct location in the plugs to your radio set up
if you don't you will damage the new servos etc

i ave an old conquest mk2 tx so i can tell you wat most of the switches do
i don't have the manual and i've never used the tx in came with an old shuttle i bought for spares

i will start from the left hand top and work across to the right side

on the left side you will find a slider which i don't know its function
on the top you have a switch labeled throttle hold on/off in the on position this will hold the throttle at the pre selected level (it is set to around engine tickover)if it is turned on in the control panel (i will come to the panel later)
below it you have elevator dual rate on/off if set this gives you a choice of two differing levels of movement in the swash plate
for the forward/backwards control of the heli

            top right
back this is the idle up adjuster this sets the amount of throttle in the idle up mode ie a high throttle positon

            top front
idle up switch on/off this turns the idle up on/off, it increases the throttle to allow for stunt flying (on this basic radio it will set the throttle to a high engine rpm )
            front right
aileron dual rates as per elevator dual rates but this controls the side to side control of the heli

            the sticks
            they move up/down and left/right
you could have whats called a mode 1 or a mode 2 set
depending on which one you have will affect what stick movement does what
i have a mode 2 set here so if the control on yours is different you may have a mode 1 set

left stick up/down this stick stays in the position you select ie not sprung loaded like the other sticks
this alters the throttle and the blade pitch
down=low throttle and less blade pitch
up= more throttle and more blade pitch
left/right sprung loaded this turns the rudder when you go left on the stick the nose of the heli turns left
            right the nose turns right

            right stick
all sprung loaded and the stick returns to the sentre position when let go
up/down this controls forwads/backward movemet of the heli up=forward, down = backwards
left/right this tilts the heli left/right left=tilts left, rght = tilts right (looking from the back of the heli forwards)

by the side of the sticks you will see some sliders, thease allow you to trim the heli #(re-centre a control if it moves own its own to one side or back/forward
the trim on the throttle/pitch only operates the throttle

under the front panel with conquest on (it lifts up) you will see some adj knobs and switchs

            left to right
revo mix this alters the rudder to conter act the altering torque from the main rotor blades
up adds rudder when the throttle is increased, down reduces rudder when the throttle is decreased
l in r = the direction of rotation
            l = left hand rotation, inh=mixing off , r = right handrotation
a shuttle will use the r position (unless you fit a heading hold gyro, in this case set to inh)

            d/r adj
this sets the amount of movement on the elevator or aileron control when the dual rate switches are turned on (one adj for each control)
th hold this sets the amount of throttle when the hold is selected the switch sets it to on (hold) or off (inh)

you have 5 reverse switchs these set the direction of the stick to make the swash pkate/ throttle/rudder move in the correct direction
            set to rev/norm as needed

            on the rear face
the upper middle is the crystal it should be a 35mhz one and the same number as fitted to the rx
lower is the battery box and t the right is the charge jack only use the correct snawa charger due to the pos/neg positions of the pins in the jack

if you require a shuttle manual google it and you will find one to download for free

            i forgot to add
don't try and fly the heli until you have had somebody to check it over for you
it may be a good idea to replace the radio equipement for a more modern 2.4ghz unit

Question for ya if it's a 35 MHz system shouldn't both crystals be the same ?

The control crystal says 35.040mhz FM
On one side and 64 FM Tx on the other.

And the heli one says 35.070mhz FM
And 67 FM Rx on the other.

              Ain't the 67 & 64 supposed to be the same ?

you should nave the same numbers on the tx and heli
                eg
                35.040 mhz /64 on both

the 64 and 67 are the channel numbers
with a 64 in one and a 67 in the other the tx will not control the heli

                    yes
use the same make of xtal as the make of the tx in the tx
and the same make as the rx in the rx
