which heli next !!!

    which heli next !!!

    hi peeps ...

    ive been flying a blade mcpx (with a few mods)for a while now and am able to hover quite nicely now and fly nose in ok with no mega hicups .
    now the prob is im bored of flyin indoors and need to get outside lol . i know you can fly the mcpx outside its just it gets blown around a fair bit being such a small heli !
    my querie being ...which heli to go for next as im completely baffled as to which size/spec to go for . any help here would be lovely !!!

    Perhaps take a look at the Blade 450

    Great for beginners, and once you're ready it can transverse into 3D

      I'm only just starting out in this hobby and after taking advice from friends and here, I bought a dx7s, Phoenix, mcpx and a just bought a Trex550e.

      Ive only been using Phoenix mainly to get hovering sorted. Getting there with the sim and my first goes with the mcpx have been eventful but not too bad. I had advice that a 500size model would handle wind better and be a good start to learn on. As the 550 was a fraction more than the 500, I went for that. The 600 is another beast in my eyes so left that well alone.

      I will only fly it when ready, but comfortable I made the right choice.

        The bigger the better, but if you're on a budget perhaps look at a Blade 450x

          thanks for ya input guys

          after talking to a friend and an evening on the internet ...i decided bugger it lets kill the bank account a lil!!! ...so ive gone and ordered a trex 450 pro v2 3gx and all required to get it up in the air ! ( plus a few recommended spares! )

          shall keep ya posted how it goes

            i'd go for a 450 or if you can afford it just buy a 550 or 600 like someone suggested, but you have to practice otherwise catastrophe, coz it's not exactly the smallest heli. Also try and remember the bigger the better but at the same time more costly if you crush, which you will coz unfortunately it happens to everyone at some point but don't let that put you off.

              Hi

              The trex 450 Pro V2 3GX is a fantastic heli and is very stable. It can be very twitchy for a beginner but its easily softened down to suit. Just watch the heavy landings and buy plenty of front torque tube gears as these will strip. Its frustrating being grounded waiting for parts. Also get the heli set up as best you can and don't be afraid of redoing it until your happy with it. I was shown once how to set up the DIR and now after a dozen run throughs it takes around 10 mins to set up. There are plenty of videos on you tube on how to set the heli and 3GX up and you can always ask on here or take it to your local club for help. Check out my build thread Trex 450 Pro 3GX Build. Above all practise practise practise and then have fun.

                I find the mCP X fine outdoors... in fact I only ever fly it outdoors!

                It copes with light winds absolutely fine imo. I fly it in much the same conditions that I fly my 600 in lol.

                I'm sure you'll enjoy the 450 though!

                  I'm a newb and am lucky to have both 450 Pro V2 FB anf FBL with 3GX, the comment about being twitchy is spot on, very disconcerting at first but I had some help to tone it down

                  I use a 120 Sr in the house and SIM which helps be get my orientation right and an MCPX that I use in the garden (also toned down) but this can be a little b4st4rd LOL but such great fun.

                    You'll be surprised at what winds the mcpx will handle, and it'll do wonders for your collective management

                    Fbl'd 450 is my other bird and I reckon it's the best place to start after an mcpx

                      +1 on this (but my 450 is not flybar less yet but hopefully in a couple of weeks!) have made a lot of progress in the last two months since I got the 450. 👍
