  • Just to say thanks

I've decided to give up on the hobby, the learning curve is just too steep and what with all my other interests, I just don't have the time to dedicate to it.

I just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone for all their help over the last few Months, even if you haven't replied directly to one of my posts, I've no doubt read one of yours and learned something from it!

This is a fantastic forum and an invaluable resource and I've learned an immense amount in the few short Months I've been on here.
I know no-one will even notice I've gone, but it just seems rude to take my knowledge and clear off lol

I'll probably be back at some point in the future, it's frustrating that I never cracked the flying but it's not the right time for me at the moment.

Happy flying all, wishing you light winds and dry weather

    Cheers,

    Chris

Sorry to hear about this buddy! Are you not getting on with the MSRx? If you need help with setup/learning to fly I'm sure there's someone close by who can help?

It'd be a shame to lose a fellow heli pilot! If I was closer I'd help you out but there's a bit of a drive to get to you

        Thanks guys, appreciate the thoughts

To be honest, I've had lots of help in setting up the mSR-X, what I haven't had is the time to get on with practising (or the patience)
Thing is, with the camping, mountain biking, cycling, fishing, huge fish tanks maintenance, demanding full time job and family to be getting on with, I'm probably stretching myself a bit thin with trying to learn to fly the most complex model aircraft there is on top of all that

I'll probably be back in the future, when I have a little more time but I'd rather sell up now whilst the kit still has some value rather than in a few Months time when the mSR-Xv5 (or whatever it will be by then) is out, when my little bird will be worth less than a packet of crisps

        Cheers,

        Chris

Fair enough matey! Sorry to lose a pilot but needs must I suppose!

What fish do you keep? A have tropical and would love a bigger tank! It's something I bought on a whim and now I love having the little guys! So very relaxing and awesome to watch.

We will always be around - so feel free to pop back whenever.

Must say though your camping can go well with many of the flying events around the country....might help with some of the fun...
            Cheers

Dani-R, I keep a 5' tropical marine reef tank, and an 18" cube with a Mantis shrimp in, I don't do things by halves! in itself, it's a fairly expensive and time consuming hobby.

Stuart, funny you should say that...
I've pondered selling up a few times and decided to take it on the last camping trip. After all, big empty field, what could go wrong?
Well, got it up, the wind caught it, lost control and it drifted out of view. Finally found it 3 Hours later two fields away. That was kind of when I finally decided I had to knock it on the head, lol

Thanks all for the kind words, no doubt I'll poke my nose in from time to time and, as I say, I'll be surprised if I don't have another pop at it in the future, it's just not the right time for me at the moment.

Varelco, there is another local member, for the life of me I can't remember his name though Really nice bloke, he even came round my place and helped me set up the DX6i in the beginning.

                Cheers,

                Chris

The small helis are ok in the wind if you know exactly what is going on, but not a good way to learn. The original msr was a bit easier. I used to keep fish. Not marines though, they will take a lot of time. Good idea to sell now though. I've kept stuff and it soon becomes worthless. Put up a picture of your marines if you can..You can keep learning on Phoenix. Five minutes a day for a year or two will see things getting easier.

get the deep fat frier out
                            make some home made chips
and have fish and chips for dinner

now you have more time for the heli's

the smaller heli's are more cuited to indoors
outdoors they can be a hand full
                            use the sim

                            and you'll be back

it is super sad to see some one leave. I know what it is like to be busy, I work in the emergency room and I am a full time 2nd year medical student. I have more home work then I know what to do with, yet I still have time to fly. Once you get the hang of this, there is nothing better I promise. The reason it is so neat and demanding is the simple fact that not everyone can do it, so it makes us well a rare bread. I do not suggest you give it up, i am sure you will regret it my friend. take a break from it (like a week or two) then start again I am sure you will fall in love with it.
Oh gosh its a blonde girl flying, quick hide under the car.
