  • Nose In - Woop Woop!!!!

Finally, today was the moment the penny dropped. Just went out after work. Dead calm with the MCPX. Nose in, lazy 8's, its like my fingers don't need my brain anymore.

    What a great feeling

Congrats dude. I think the trick is to have the balls to try. It's not as hard as you think.

                  Hi mate.

Did you have to get your hover done to dead still before your started trying to do nose in?

How long have you been practicing to do it if you don't mind me asking?

The trick is to start with tail in, then side on but starting at a 45 degree angle then approach the 90degrees. Then once you're confident with that and you can move the heli round a little bit you will start to naturally put the heli nose in as you come round in a turn. Once you've done that for a bit go for full nose in hover as you'll already have the basis for nose in controls in place. It's all stick time also, practice practice practice on the sim first! If you're comfortable and can do it consistently on the sim, you're likely ready to move to the real thing. Just keep it high!

T'rific, but don't get cocky and try it with the 600 just yet, unless you're rolling in it

Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !

mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.

                            Well done Shaggy,
I think I’m about 6 to 12 months away from that. But like everyone said and you have proved practicing makes it easier.

The way I did it was to first get the hover right. I done this very early on in about 3 weeks, I then hit the wall, but I think that paid off as for the last 3 months I have only done hover and tail in. The difference with me is my hover is superb and I can hold it steady in most conditions. Not blowing my own trumpet here, just saying how it is.

I done all the above with a 500. I can put the Heli whevwr I want go foward really fast and back, to the side and so on, but it All had to be tail in. Touch wood I have yet to have any form of accident . Prob should not have said that, but again , just sharing my experience so far.

I then started to fly the 500 side on I still have my got that past 90 degrees yet.

I then got an MCPX and that allowed me to be more aggressive in my flying , I found I could actually do a lot more than I was doing on my 500, I could do full 360 I could take it up really high, I then started to do mini circuits but only side on. The last few dyaks I have been hovering past 90 degrees and then stArted doing lazy 8s. Then After about 3 days I could point the nose toward me for. Few seconds. Then my brain just seemed to click, my fingers now seem to work entirely independent my brain. It's such a good feeling.

The thing that has work for me is getting tail in so good that I could recover instinctively from any mistake. So all my contol tail in is superb. If I now get into any trouble nose in I instantly know what to do and that generally Stan the rudder to take it back to tail in.

What I will add is that initially the sim helped. I have not used that though since I learnt to hover. The thing that really helped me was the MCPX.

                              I hope this helps.
