  • TRex 450 SE V2 - tight blade grips - help

Ok - built the thing - looks real nice then put in the main blades (Align carbon) and found them very tight in the blade grips. Blades need a torque wrench to move them even when the bolts are not done up much.

Anyone got any ideas how I fix this...

    a) Get new blades
    b) Sand the blades top and botton where they go into the metal holders
    c) Brute force with a screwdriver on the holders to try and separate them a bit.
    d) Get a new kit

Vote now please someone else must have had this problem.

Didnt screw em up tight - honest
Didnt stand on the blade holders - honest

    straight out of the box...

    HELP please

The pro wood align blades are notorious for being tight in the grips.
I just got some align carbon night blades that I have yet to try in the grips....

Normally folks are sanding the blades roots to make them fit.

Radix are a good fit, and superb blades.

If your head speed is high, like 3000 then you can have the blades quite tight.

      a) Get new blades Possibly, Radix are a nice fit and nice blade, I'm using V's at the moment and they are bloody tight.
      b) The solution for woodies and maybe the Align carbon ones that are not CF.
      c) NO - all holders are the same and you may weaken them, also when you have to get a new pair then they'll be all sloppy
      d) a new kit will probably be the same.

Tight is not all that bad, do the nut up as much as you can without making them tighter, as long as the blade can move a little so it can find its slot when you spool up it will be ok. People who auto them alot tent to have them very tight anyway.
      Clones are bad

      .... that includes Align ones

Thanks Moyesboy and Thomas for that advice. I thought they had to be really loose so they would drop by themselves when the copter was turned sideways, so its good to hear they dont have to be that loose

I will look into the Radix blades - no new headclamp kit necessary then - whoopie -

Just as well I didnt try the screwdriver trick else sounds like future blades would have been falling out

        Thanks again....

when you hold thr hlei sideways the blades should not fall, until you shke the heli. But you can get away with them a bit tighter still if your head speed is high.

I sanded my align carbon blades with a black & decker sander until they fitted snugly.
