I brought it second hand off ebay fully working. I think the Esc went due to a dodgy servo, as it blew the replacement Esc aswell. Since speaking to midland helicopter I replaced the faulty Servo aswell as the other 2 just to be on the safe side. Still not got a new Esc yet though. I wanted to get someone to look at it before I connect up another Esc. Don't really want to watch another £80 go up in smoke.

I'm from Ruddington. Where abouts in Nottingham you from?

Wollaton. So not far away. I'd be surprised if a servo blew the ESC. It's normally a faulty Motor.

Gutted, the weather is to bad to go out and play.

I was really looking forward to getting my new build set up and off the ground.

                    Hi Ben

Pheonix rotors has a club raptor 30 that is used for buddy training by arrangement at cost of fuel only. they are not professional lessons but helpful in progressing past the hover. assistance with setup and test flights is readily available best done on a Tuesday night at Arnold

                        Hi Ben,

I live around the corner from you. Newark Indoor Flying Club has just started flying outdoors on the show ground, any size heli's so your 550 will be fine. There's several people there who can provide general assistance in setup and flying. If you want to pay for lessons, Jason Platts is local and there's a great guy called Jo Kinsella who's opened a new RC shop in Newark who I believe also offers lessons. Now that the new A46 is open, it's 15mins door to door!

You can contact NIFC at the URL below and if you pm me your email address, I'll forward it to Jo.

As the Chairman of Newark Indoor Flying Club, I'll pick up Storrm's post (whoever you are! I'll know you well but you are hiding!)

The nearesrt clubs to a south Nottingham location will probably be Park Hall and Phoenix (where I am also a member). Both have good websites that will lead you to contact details. Both those clubs also offer tuition in one form or other as well - professional lessons or buddy boxing by a qualified member.

Moving to my own club, as has been mentioned we do indeed now fly outdoors as well and within a few days I'll be back on here advertising that fact and bringing the community up to date with our progress. I am not quite in a position to do that but will be within the week.

You are welcome to join - it is a very sucessful Indoor Club that has expanded to flying outdoors as well - 2 seperate flying locations on the Newark Showground. I'll happily give you more details if you want to pm me.

Regarding Jason Platts - he is a member of our club (as he is of others). He's excellent for lessons and I've had lessons from him myself. However he is not local and you need to travel to Wetlands, home of the North Notts Club, north of Retford for tuition from him - about £45 per hour now I think. Jo Kinsella, who you mention is a member of the club and has just opened an excellent aero model shop in Newark, however he does not give lessons - he'll help you out as we all will, infact thinking about it we are a very helpful club!

Anyway more on that in a day or two - but feel free to pm me (about Newark or Phoenix)
