Do any of you live near Wandsworth Common / Clapham Junction / Balham areas ? or know of any heli enthusiast that does ?

I'm looking for a little assistance in finishing my heli (Raptor 30v2) and setting up my TX properly (Sanwa RD6000Sport)

Happy to pay you in fuel / parts etc

Please contact me through my profile or post here and I will respond.

I'm hoping to be in the air, on my own by New Years.

    Hi Glenn,

I would help you with the raptor 30, however, as I'm just south of Bath, which is an hour and three quarters along the M4 from you, it may be a bit far.

    There is one chap I know in Northolt, which is a little closer to home for you, that is Dave Fisher of the Flyin Fish heli flight training centre. Have a look at his web site;

    www.flyinfish.co.uk

I'm sure he will be able to help you.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

      Hi Kiwi

I have the same heli, with exactly the same Tx, so if you have probs getting a mentor i'll do my best to answer any questions you may have.

The build manual with the Rappy 30 V2 is notoriously bad ! Have a look at www.raptortechnique.com someone has written a really superb manual to help build the raptor, and he explains a lot of things that the standard manual doesn't even cover and gives some really vital tips. As it is a site devoted to the Raptor, there really is a wealth of info there.

Let us know how you get on

      Rgds ............ Tony

PS ....... PETE, as a relative newcomer to this site, can you put me out of my misery and explain how you knew that Kiwi was Glenn ??????
I've noticed this before, and never been able to work out how you get past someone's alias !!!! ops:

Dave Fisher of the Flyin Fish heli flight training centre
I have met Dave a couple of times at my local club & at a couple of competition events & he is a very helpfull guy, I've seen him take time out to help newcomers (& sometimes not so newcomers).

Not only that, he knows how to fly 8)

          Thanks Pete, Tony and TC

I have used the raptortechnique manual (found before I started luckily)
          Makes it a lot easier.

Just about to connect linkages to servos, but would like to ensure all electrics are configured before doing so.

Will be in touch with Dave, and also Nigel Fraser Ker, but really wanting to get my heli up to a 'startable' standard before getting it checked out, trimmed and test flown.

If any of you are ever in London let me know.

Hopefully I can find someone a little closer.

          regards

          Glenn

Before you connect the linkages, get all your wiring, Rx, gyro, battery connected.

Then make sure all your trims etc, on your Tx are centred, then turn on Tx then Rx & using the right length & type of servo horn get them all at 90deg's to your linkages, you can move the horn's around on the splines to achieve this, then fit all your ball links at the correct distance from centre & finally connect the linkages.

Make sure you fit locking nuts on the back of the control ball screws.

              Thanks TC

Up to the adjusting the horns etc. All servos hooked up and rx working (all servos working, and reversed where necessary)

              Looking forward to completing this.

Sounds like your doing fine on your own there.

Keep us posted on your progress.

                  Glenn,

Hi, Im not too far away. Im in Yiewsley just round the corner from Heathrow.

Im no mentor but I too have built my Raptor V2 from scratch, solo and used a Sanwa RD8000 (much the same as your 6000 I have been lead to believe).

If you need a hand let me know and I will be happy to do so. I managed with the outstanding help of RaptorTechnique to get mine built, setup, trimmed and airborne solo, and if I can do it anyone can.

Dont get as much time ad I would like to fly but in about 10 tanks I guess I was hovering stably,m up and down without training gear and working my way towards Side On/Nose in with a little help from Reflex XTR simulator.

Get in touch if you need a hand or leave a message here and I will be right back to you ASAP. Nice to have a flying friend local(ish) as I too can find it somewhat lonely and of putting.

                  Cheers,

                  Jase.

I am based near Camberley so just down the M3 if you need any help. I fly a Raptor 50 rather than 30 but its almost the same animal (bar the boom, engine, engine mount and blades).

I am no 3D flyer but can hover and am working on circuits...

seem to spend a lot of time working at the mo but hope to get some more flying asap.
