  • Fantastic Day

I joined the Melton Model club last Sunday so I'd have a field to fly my first grown up heli in (Trex 500). Today was my first trip to the field and the first time I've spun up the T500, was a little apprehensive at first it's a big noisy thing compared to my T250 and MCPX but got it in the air and back on the ground again despite my jittery fingers. Next few flights went well I love this big heli, flies really well and I look forward to the next fine weekend. The club field is great too no people, dogs, trees or lampposts to worry about. Came home with a big smile on my face but wanting a better battery charger

its great init i got 600 nitro wen i fired that thing up the adrenalin was awsome. soon youl be banking looping inverted and all the rest. if you can save your pennies up get a collection of batts, charging wont be so bad. take a flask with you have abreak between each batt have a drink and wee yould find youl allways have a batt or too ready

It's great when you have a good day and it sounds like you had a great day. May you have many more

are you flying at the whissendine site? I've let my membership lapse as don't have the use of a car on my days off to get to the field....too far to walk from oakham!

No I was up at the Dalby road site which was ideal as there where only two of us there. Apparently the run way is not so good for the plane flyers. Will probably be there Sunday morning if the weather is good, got to get to grips with nose on hovering

would love to join you but i'm working all day tomorrow at rutland water. i too am trying to get to grips with nose in, can do it all day long on the sim but it's so stupidly different when actually flying!! i've had my blade 450 since october, i was flying fixed wing with trevor at whissendine until a couple of years ago (learning to get my a wings) but life changed! I still really enjoy planks but heli's are such a challenge and they scare me almost as much as riding motorbikes!!!

I know what you mean it's the challenge that appeals to me too. Don't have a sim I went down the mcpx route and I can hover that nose in and it's only the implications of crashing holding me back with the T250 and t500 but I'll get there. Would be great to hook up with a fellow beginner heliAddict at some point though.
