well after wrecking the t rex 450 this morn ,i got the raptor out and hovered that in the garden instead , why is the raptor so much easier to hover than trex is ,just lift it off floor and there it sits waiting for next command , were as t rex is all over place

      Big enough I guess.

The Raptor is a far better learning machine than any 450 in my opinion, and you've just found out why.

A cheap and cheerful way to tame the 450 is to add flybar weights (assuming it has a flybar?). Get some 2mm brass wheel collets (they are plane parts) from a local model shop and fit two on each side of the flybar up against the paddles. That will tame it down a treat for just a couple of quid.

As you get more confident you can (a) move the weights in towards the main shaft, and (b) remove first one weight, then both of them, until your skills are up to the job.

                    Here's a flybar with a simple weight added - 2223_51145244203_48781739203_1285290_3398_n.jpg

Here's some brass wheel collets which are suitable for the job - f-raa1097_1.jpg

More weight, further out towards the paddles increases stability and slows down cyclic response. Move the weights in towards the centre and use a ruler to set the equi-distant each side to increase response.

probaly easier to hover cos its a heavier bigger machine and is built to be stable whereas the trex is more suited to aerobatics

I learnt to fly a shuttle before a 400 size electric and while cost is an obvious issue I still say that a larger heli is a better starting point when learning to take off for the first time, allthough having experienced help is also vital
