  • Nitro and 6 channels

There seems to be a few ways to get around having to have 7 channels for nitro. Could someone explain the different bits needed to make this work ? I really like the look of nitro over electric.

You only really need 7 Channels of your planning to run some governors (ie align) because you control the headspeed remotely using your end points. You can just run proper throttle curves & it will run fine like that.

Basically it's a matter of if you run a governor or not. In a typical setup you'll have the 5 controls
plus a channel for gyro gain and one for governor. Usually the gear channel will be gyro gain and
      aux2 will be gov.

You can fly a nitro without a governor and then it's not an issue. The gov becomes more
useful when you're doing aerobatic stuff and need the headspeed to be maintained during
heavy pitch changes. Using proper throttle curves and possibly a programmable mix or two
you can go a long way without a gov.

There are governors where you can set a headspeed on the unit without needing a spare
channel, so it's still possible with 6 channels using the right gov. you may just have a bit
less in the way of different headspeeds, most likely just one pre-set speed that kicks in at
      a certain throttle percentage etc.

Hi, as said above it can be done. If you go for throttle curves and mixes and your using a DX6i be aware that the DX6i does not support throttle mixes, these are important to flip, roll or do any fast pitch changes.

The CSM Revlock 20 gov does allow you to set the head speed manually (not using the 7th channel.). The only other issue you will face with the Revlock is a feature called responsivity which cannot be adjusted (in manual mode) with out the USB lead. The result may well be a kicking tail under certain conditions.

        Good luck

Revlock 10,20 and 30 will run on 6 channels and like the others have said the headspeed is set manually on the gov .. With revlocks you need to know the gearing of the heli to get the rpm's right on the engine ...The tail kicking whilst using revlock is not the gyro but the gov hunting and making the revs go up and down .. TBH only time I ever had a revlock hunt was when using too slow a throttle servo

Also set up a throttle curve as the gov will work alot better with curves underlying the governed speed .. plus if you throw a magnet/gov dies then you can still fly
