    Hello,

Just got an indoor mini heli for Christmas of the Mrs and really enjoy flying it which has led to me here, to look into doing the real thing. Before diving in head first, all guns blazing I thought I should do some research on the whole thing. Eventually I would like to go down the nitro route.

What would people advise I do to start out... As well as a sim to practice with I would also like to have an actual heli that I could at Heli Club, as I have found out there is a club not too far away from myself.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's the club I was going to get in touch with... Can I just turn up down there? Do you know what days/nights they run the club?

      Thanks for the welcome.

welcome to the forum get a dx6i transmitter and pheonix sim and stick to that as buying a heli will empty you wallet very fast but if your determined to go bankrupt then look at a trex 600 which is a 50 size or a raptor 30 both are very stable helis for beginners also go to a local club and get as much info as you can, and good luck
        Raptor 50 v2
        Raptor 50 titan se
Raptor X50n to go in sea king fuz
        Raptor 90
        dsx9 mk2
600 size Sea king being built
Bo-105 in red bull colours waitng to be built

yes midland are top guys and its a shop in nuneaton, handy that, pop in and ask about the club just bear in mind they will be very busy today as there is allways a christmas rush.

yep DX6i is a good choice it will fly most helis and work your sim too.

just make sure you get a mode 2 tx (thats throttle stick on the left) which is the way most fly , (but not the only way !!!!) there are some briliant pilots who fly throttle right such as busterboy and geek on here.

Do you know where the shop is, as I've lived in Nuneaton all my life and I've never seen it (but I have never looked for one either).

Thanks for all your help, appreciate it.

Sorry, ignore me, I've just been on their website and says it's in Hinckley which is only just down the road and where I will be working as from the start of the new year. I'll get my self down there and have a word with them.

welcome to the forum, your mrs might regret buying you that, unless she is looking for an excuse for a divorce (lol just kidding)

So went to Midlands yesterday, didn't come back with what I wanted but went away with some great advice... I am going to be getting the DX6i, Phoenix sim and also a msrx or mcpx. Which one of the heli's would you advise getting?

Any particular reason why? Am i right in believing the MCPX is a collective pitch heli?

Yes it, but imo the Msrx is good for orientation, which u can learn from the sim. With the mcpx u can get the feeling of a cp without spend a fortune. The mcpx is a better long term investment.
