havent had much time to mess around with the raptor since my daughter was born but the last few days i thought sod it and fired the old girl up
had a tail holding problem with the v1 and hopfully thats sorted thanks to matty-boy on here ( thank you m8 but still havent got round to fit it lol )
so with the v1 grounded i descided to try the v2 with all its bling as i bought it months ago and wouldnt fly it as it looked to nice to smash up but i wanted to fly and it was a bit windy for the little 450
once it got it started the engine didnt seem right but i did remeber the engine had been set up on 15% so after tinkering abit with it i got it to run so so but wasnt happy with it but it hovered ok apart from the tail would drift a lot ( hay ho same problem as the v1 but different gyro this time ) so brought it down messed around with it a bit and seemed to get it right then i would wag really bad so after a lot of up and down and messing around i finally got it to hold hands off few a good few seconds ( well chuffed with my self setting it up with now help so to speek )
today : checked everthing over as i normally do and altered the throttle curve a little bit and messed around with the engine as i wasnt happy with it and i couldnt put my finger on the back case for even a second so now it seems even better thank before and a lot of smoke and seems on a hole a lot better
and when it was up and down when we were messing around with the engine i noticed one of the oval links had decided to break ( well the ball link end had come out the bottom half as its a metal one) dont no how it came out and i didnt even notice it when flying it
so sorted that and took it up again only hovering still and the tail was back to its ald tricks starting to drift ffs !!! so checked everthing again and it was off going by the 4.5 mm rule so checked everything again and the locking bolts on the control arm were lose so tightend them back up again and off we go again and tails so so solid so did a bit more hovering then a bit of side on hovering and a little bit of forward flight ( still aint got the balls to go nose in still but can do it on the sim and i can fly it around on the sim
plus i was on concreat and it would hurt if i got it wrong lol ) then the bloody thing would start drifting again so after a lot of swearing and a sit down with a coffie and fag i looked over it again and guess what the nuts had come lose again and the rod could turn !! so with that i though sod it locked them off as had as i could and finished the last half the tank off but over the past 2 days i could here like a cracking sound every so often but couldnt work out where it was coming from and with the tail problem i though it would be best to ground it and run the last of the fuel off on the floor to see if i could here or see the problem with it so sitting it on the floor and bring the blades up to some speed i noticed the sound was coming from the tail end but i would also notice the tail would seem to jump on just over idle but once over that and the blades were getting some speed but not enough to lift the old girl i could here the cracking sound so it looks like ive got a belt or tail problem with it aswell
so its grounded now till ive ripped it apart to find out whats wrong with it ive got another v2 airframe and thinking about putting some new bearings it that and build that up so i no for 100% everthing is tight and right i suppose thats what you get when you buy a heli from ebay and not pullying it apart to check everthing but saying that as much as its ****ed me off as im not getting it into the air its been fun sorting the bloody thing out if it wasnt so near to xmas i would have gone out and got a brand new kit but i think i would have gone for a 50 this time
control arm to tail is now in the bin as ive got a spare one for that i dont trust it and as soon as it got locked off it would come undone again
just looking forward to getting it right so i can fly it a bit more with out over worrieing whats going to fall of or come undone and then i might find me balls to try nose in i ditched the training gear ages ago i found it a lot better with out
a few flights ago when i used the v1 i was on training gear and pitch settings 0,5,9 and with the v2 and 5 if you want to call them flights as such im useing -2,5,9 i havent got idle up programed yet but i dont think it will be long before i do
thanks to matty-boy again i will get round to fitting it lol
