  • All fixed up after my first crash..I think...

well it took a couple of hours as it was my first folly into reparing the heli, i was surprised to see there was no bearing in the mixing levers, so i had to cut through the old one to get the bearing out .hmm..that was like when i replaced the gear in the servo.. no bearing in the repair pack..

it was a little tricky getting the rudder servo in place right and to get the rear rotors to tilt as they should, but i think i managed.. that elastic band (drive train) that runs through the boom to power the rudders was a bit tricky to get straight..

what else.. oh yeah. took me a minute to figure out that the flybar paddles screwed on ...heh.. i was not sure so i just leveled them up by eye, and measured how much bar was on either side.. not sure how crucial that is.

after i got the old bent boom off, i tried to bend it.. but it was much stronger than i thought, and for those blades to do so much damage to it realy makes me think.. imagine the mess it would make if it hit you..
mental note: be very carefull ...

anyway just thought id mention where i was at.
    cheers Rob

Good to hear you've made excellent progress on the rebuilt.

Only one thing is critical right now, you already know what it is ...

    Don't try to test it

The lack of bearings in most spares kits is normal, they are relatively expensive items and it is more likely that you'll strip a gear than damage a bearing on a servo, so they come separate.

Be prepared to find that other parts you didn't spot were damaged, but the guys local to you can help you spot anything else that is wrong in a safe environment.

thanks, i didnt spin the blades, but i did check the srvos and linkages.. dont worry, i have learnt my lesson..
i dont see anything else wrong, but when i get to the local club, hopefully they can have a wee look for me .

good on ya chap! i got the laccy band the wrong way round the first time i rebuilt mine, make sure the tail rotor blades rotate anti clockwise, would you like me to have a go at straightening out your old tail boom? it's relatively easy with the right gear and haqndy to have a spare just in case.

Good on yer Rob, the first big step is now over. Repairing the bugger's is half the fun, and you learn a lot from that alone, as you say by being more careful. Look on the bright side mate, if you're anywhere near like me, you'll soon be able to strip 'em down and rebuild blindfolded. LOL.

Don't worry Rob, very soon you will have enough spares. After one year at it, my spares box just needs a set of frames and,I have one new 450. Been cheaper to have bought a whole bugger in the first place. LOL.
