  • Couple of relative newby questions please folks.

I have been flying my blade 120sr around the house for a while,im very confident with it now and can fly it all round my 12x20ft living room without a problem, backwards flight then spinning it round 180 deg and carrying on in forward flight, nose in hover and moving around is also fine.I have flown it outdoors in calm weather and thats fine too.In fact fingers crossed never had a crash yet..
Im thinking of upgrading to a blade mcpX,would this be the next logical step up?

Also will i find it as easy to fly as the 120sr?

Another question is,as i have only flown small electric heli's,if i did move to a larger say 30 size or equivelent model for outdoor,am i going to find it an easy transfer to a bigger model, just with flying the small twitchy ones ive heard the bigger ones are more stable,is this correct?

    Oh tranny is spektrum dx6i.

    Thanks All
    Gaz..

Hi and welcome to the forum m8

Yes, the mcpx would seem like the next logical step if your wanting to stick with micro sized helis. They are a bit harder to handle than the 120SR, but like any heli they can be tamed down until you get the feel of it.

The Dx6i is the perfect radio to start of with, and in fact it'll see you well into the hobby flying most helis your likely to get into.
And once your proficient with the mcpx, you shouldnt have any real issues transferring those skills to a bigger heli. the only real difference being the repair costs and their somewhat more daunting size.

Another bit of kit well worthwhile getting hold of is the Phoenix simulator.

      Many thanks Graham.
Appreciate your answer, that simulator is on my list,it looks very good, probably very good training for 3d

Off to get my mcpx tomorrow.

Yeah the sim is probably the best investment you can make in the world of RC helis. Seriously it's an essential bit of kit and most of the folk on here swear by it..... Including me

I would have thought the mcpx is better than a sim.....

The mcpx is great fun, and a massive step forward compared to what was previously available in micro helis, but come on, its not so brilliant as to be able to completely replace Phoenix as a training aid.

For one, the little heli is seriously underpowered compared to a 450 or larger. With Phoenix you get to fly all sizes of heli, from basic trainer through to mental 90's.
Futher more, yes the mcpx bounces well, but it aint indestructible. Unlike those in Phoenix

I would echo the comments posted above. I'm an MCPX owner and love it to bits. Very crash resistant (although not indestructible) and Phoenix you will find indispensable when you start getting into more advanced stuff. I can hover inverted fairly controlled on the sim, but not quite cracked it yet on the MCPX. Will wait til I'm proficient on that before I even think of trying it on my 600

The really great thing about the mcpx is it can be flown indoors obviously, great to learn orientations with, but it will fly outdoors remarkably well, even in a gentle breeze.

              Best of luck

Quick someone lock this thread!Am I hearing rumblings of an honest assesment of the MCPX? Let's just hope LG & Nick don't stumble upon this thread before all traces of negative MCPX talk are banished. It is a crime on this forum and Balders and Tiddler should be publicly humiliated for not towing the party line that the MCPX is better than God!

I was gonna post a reply, but as I had nothing constructive to add, thought better of it.

Gaz, if you need any tips on MCPX ownership, pop on over to the Eflite MCPX area and post in there. There are a lot of very happy owners, plus the odd ex-owner

To be honest I'm surprised it's not on the headline banner for this site!

My advice to the OP is think long and hard about how long you'd be able to practice on a sim verses the stupid 2 & a half minute battery life of a crappy little plastic toy.

Guy, FFS give it a rest m8 eh

We all know your thoughts on the mcpx, jees, you've rammed them home at every conceivable opportunity, so we get the message OK.
We've all pretty much gathered that you don't like it and that you think its a pile of s**t, but do you have to keep popping up on peoples threads and constantly reminding us.

Fact: There are a hell of a lot of people that enjoy the little heli for what it is, their happy, so what's the point in banging your head on a brick wall trying to convince them otherwise. Your in the minority here m8. Deal with it

I'd rather the people who make the blatantly false claims "gave it a rest" but I have to suffer their insufferable nonsense, so as to present a balanced view you'll just have to put up with me!

                          Deal with it!!!

I just don't want to see you lot push another mug into shelling out money for something that is so obviously a con.
