first time out with a trex 500

just been out with my new(ish) trex and didn't crash, rather chuffed, i have a bit of a balance issue with the training gear, i used an over sized 50/90 kit and cut it down, it's very firm so i'm taking great pains to land with care lol. any how didn't hover all that well as it wants to lean forward, but did a few laps of the field instead, such a nice heli, wish i'd bought one of these first

Get it in idle up and it sits there !

I will never sell mine !

I love my 500 FBL too, i use an over sized 50/90 training kit too, didnt cut mine down, but i look at it that if i can fly it with the training gear on - once i take it off should be a lot better to fly

just wondering, mine has a belt driven tail rotor, can this be upgraded to gear and shaft driven?

yea it can but i wouldnt advise you to unless you can hover and land perfectly as it will cost you as the gears get easily damage on tail strikes

cheers for that, just an option for the future, hovering is a bit difficult at the moment, i can hold it still enough to land it ok it's just keeping it still for any length of time.

no probs im the same boat as yourself i was going to upgrade the tail on the mini tiatn but not guna waste my money on it.lol

i must admit that was the first thing i did after the first misshap with my minitit, carbon fibre tail boom lasted all of 2 minutes, managed to get a shotgun cleaning rod down the original alloy boom and pushed the dent back out, worked a treat mate!
