Hi all... just need to know how to identify a screw or what the spec means.
for example:
M2x6

what does the above mean?

reason being i need to get some m2x6 tapper screws for my bell 222 body.

Just noticed you want screws over bolts, not sure if they do them but there very cheap compared to model shops

M2 is the thread diameter in MM
x6 is 6 MM long measured from the tip of the thread to the underside of the head ie, the usable part not the top.

Now I guess the tapper bit means you want a self tapping screw.

BUT....... a really important thing to remember is not only the size but grade !! bolts come in many different grades from cheese to super strong , you don't want to put cheese grade as Jesus bolt or blade holder bolt.....

Strength Grade of Bolts and Screw <-- a useful guide 12.9 is what you want for the above

It's just for attaching the Bell 222 body together on a kyosho concept frame. A project I'd like to start and finish and it shall be a shelf queen!
The body needs a few screws.

Just some additional info

To find out the tapping size drill you just take the pitch away from the diameter (the pitch being the distance from top of one thread to the top of the next thread)

i.e.
Bolt M3 pitch is 0.5mm tapping drill is 2.5mm
Bolt M4 pitch is 0.7mm tapping drill is 3.3mm
Bolt M5 pitch is 0.8mm tapping drill is 4.2mm
Bolt M6 pitch is 1.0mm tapping drill is 5.0mm
Bolt M8 pitch is 1.3mm tapping drill is 6.3mm
Bolt M10 pitch is 1.5mm tapping drill is 8.5mm

If you use the correct drill size and a suitable lubricant, you will break less taps.

Starting at 83p for 10 The smallest size should fit a 450..

Bigger sizes for bigger helis

Only works on metric size tho and your M8 is wrong ! obviously just for accuracy and i am a bit off a thread nerd !
