    Hi

This seems like a good place to introduce myself. I joined the site about an hour ago, I first got into helis last year with a cheap Lama clone I bought from Maplin. Moved on from that to a Nine Eagles Solo Pro (brilliant little thing) and then started pounding Phoenix as I already had a Spektrum TX (I fly fixed wing too).

Have now got a SJM 360 which I bought from a reviewer for £100 and kitted out with servos, gyro, radio and battery, so far I'm practising hovers and sideways transtions, nearly ready to start flying circuits. I love it

    Nice to meet y'all

    Rob

Welcome to the site Rob, it sounds like youve made a good start.

Pheonix is an excellent starting point.
    All the best
    Tony.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I have some bad news... after about 25-30 successful flights and faultless landings, last night I (briefly) lost orientation while flying my SJM. Got it back in time to get it the right way up but still struck the ground and bent my flybar, the little cagey thing it goes through, and snapped both main blades. Amazingly everything else is fine.

Anyone know where to get some spares? I've spent all morning on Google with no luck

Please check the mainshaft and feathering spindle as its likley these are bent too , sorry for the sad news, but keep flying its all part of the fun :-)

                    Hi Rachel

Yeah I was worried about that too. Fortunately SJMs have a very robust shaft, it's ~6mm diameter so luckily it's still as straight as a die.

                    Will keep you updated

                      Good news!

I couldn't find spares for my SJM for love nor money. However I have managed (and I can hardly believe this) to straighten out the flybar by eye, and after a new set of main blades and a battery, everything else is fine - although the canopy looks a bit second hand.

Incredibly my SJM is flying again with no problems at all. Considering it went nose first into the ground I think this is a small miracle.

I shall now be saving it for gentle sport flying and hovers, and getting something more replaceable for anything else
