  • Anything to look out for on the TT Raptor?

    Hey folks,

I "accidentally" bought another helicopter last weekend, and waiting for it to be delivered. I *think* I got a bit of a bargain, but I'm waiting to see what turns up.

Anyway, I've got a TT Raptor v2 30 on it's way to me. I've downloaded and printed out the manual, but is there anything in particular I should check over prior to getting it in the air? Obviously I'll do the generic checks, probably bench-test the engine as well just to check on condition etc, but wondered if there is anything specific that wears badly or needs adjusting.

I'm hoping I can tell the difference between v1 and v2 as well - I've had a bit of a dig around and things seem pretty straight forward.

    Cheers
    Paul

have a look and see if it has bearings rather than bushings fitted everywhere, if not its definately worth fitting the bearing kit to it, and its relative cheap as well
also if it has wooden blades, stck some carbon ones on, either TT's own make or something like NHP's will fly nice on it
other mods i would recommend would be Quick UK header tank and the boom mounted tail servo mod
do ou have any more spec on the gear fitted to it

I'd suggest a full rebuild, at least that way you won't be finding the problems and faults one crash at a time

They are quick to build and it really is the best way to deal with a 2nd hand model of unknown provenance.

Spec-wise not too sure yet, but has a couple of canopies, spare blades, tuned pipe, spare glow plugs, 35mhz sanwa tx/rx, 4 spare servo's etc.
I know quite a bit about the older radio gear as that's what we've got a lot of - so I'm not fussed about that yet and will prob stick a spektrum rx in it anyway. Also got an Align 2in1 and lipo to go in to replace the nimh that's coming with it. Been flown recently apparently, and seller took it as payment for something so doesn't know too much about it.
        Anyway, we'll see what happens.

This is a pretty good website for fixes and tips on the Raptors; Raptor Technique

I have had a Raptor 30 and 50 (V2) and still have my 50. I still think it's an iconic design and very
          pleasing lines, especially the 60/90V2s.

Well I've been doing a lot of work to the Raptor, and will soon have all the hardware and most of it set up. Having a few issues trying to find where to locate the align 2 in 1 and lipo, but sure I'll find somewhere soon.

Also need to get the header tank installed properly as it seems to foul on the boom support at the rear - I assume the header tank should be as close to level (horizontal) as possible?
