  • Is it worth it?

How does this sound? I have been offered a new (only hovered) raptor 60 with TT70H, GY401 gyro, S9001 servos and PCM rx. It's a internal club deal and the guy wants my hawk sport and a small cash adjustment.

    Sound I go for it?

    Hi Antsis,

If it were me, I would go for it, sounds like a good deal.

One word of warning though, a 60 size heli is a totally different experience to fly, its more intimidating close up and does take a bit of getting used to if youve only ever flown 30 or 50 size helis before.

Whilst the deal itself is in my opinion a good one, just be sure that you will be happy flying a 60 size model.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

If it's uncrashed then you can't lose even if you put it to one side untill you are ready for it.
Pete is right about sixty size heli's they can be a little intimidating but it's not impossible to learn to fly with one.
Some of us think they are nicer to fly than 30's particularly in wind.

Well the raptor deal fell through. All is not lost though as a brand new futura super sport popped up at a better price. It was a kit that our club instructor built for a member and was given a couple of test hops to check the settings. The member is selling it because, as you guys mentioned, he got intimidated by its size. The details are; Super sport airframe with bearing & boom rudder servo upgrade, brand new OS61LXH, futaba 9202's, JR 591's, futaba 138DF dual conversion Rx, CSM180 gyro, TG carbon blades and the standard wooden blades. Pics are in my album.

My flying site is on the coast and gets quite blustery at times, hence my desire for the bigger model.

Great looking heli you'll have loads of fun with it......

Are you going to upgrade it later to an SE or keep it as is......I believe the SE upgrade can be expensive.

It will do you nice as an intro to the .60
          Cheers

I will probably keep it as is for the moment. I enjoy just cruising around the sky in big figure 8's with nice wide turns. Our club instructor has the same kit and built them both at the same time. He put the BB upgrade in both and then changed the mixing arms on his, which I might consider later. I've seen him throw his around with some vigor.
