  • Crash

Flying this morning doing realy well , then engine just started to loose its punch on a down wind turn of all places , not a good place. Managed to turn back towards me and the Rappy was about 15 meters off the ground and sinking . Some how I landed it but it tipped over and bent the fly bar ,Bugger me . Got off lightly I think , big rock about a meter away from it to . Very lucky appart from the audience that had acumulated very embarising .

    Regards Jamie

When you are back in the air, check your mixture settings, as if it is too lean it will cause the engine to overheat, and loose power. Sounds like you got off lightly, but remeber to check all of you shafts (main, tail and feathering spindle), and make sure you give the blades a good look too, espeacly if there woodies as the can crack under the covering, and the last thing you want is a blade failure with an audience.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

    And a DX8 too

Glad the damage was not too bad.
I've got a perfect flying record - I've not left one up there yet!

Was back out tonight and the engine is still lacking power and un predictable even though i adjust all the perameters on it , its a toki 40 with tuned pipe . Think ill ditch it if it wont behave and up grade to 50 class. Engine has only had a gallon of fuel through it , might check the plumbing in and out of the tank before im to hasty. . Thank s for the advice though

Also want to be careful if the engine is running too lean as I did that on my 50 hyper and all power just seemed to drain away when I was flying it and next thing I heard was a loud POP sound and then nothing from the engine.
Turned out that it ran to lean got way too hot and popped a lovely hole in the piston!!!!
