  • Is there a learning curve?

Had sim for about 3 weeks. Managed to go from totally out of control, to being able to hover, and back to being totally outta control. If this was not so expensive, it would have been outta the window earlier I could imagine her words right now Best try and keep cool.

oh yes...... the long steep learning curve!!! I think BobJ said back in 98, there is always something new to learn.

Reminds me of when I was learning morse code. Nah, thats was easy in comparison. I have just got to try and stop thinking about what I am doing and relax. No time to think

In fairness I find my rappy 30 easier to hover for real than on my sim...This may sound weird but with the sim I can't 'feel' the weight of the heli in the air but I can when flying for real....sounds weird but I know what I mean...LOL

Golddust. hovering is a knack that takes time to aquire.

but as has been said many times its worth the effort as its great fun to fly these things.

          just one thing

Golddust, Are you running any Expo or Dual Rates on your transmitter as this will help calm stick inputs down somewhat and allow you to progress a little easier.

Ah!! A good question. It's a DX6 and I have touched nothing on it, apart making sure I was on heli. Oh! And removing the ratchet on left hand stick.

I'm not familiar with the DX6 but have just had a quick look thru the manual on the website, It is clearly explained how to set up some exponetial starting on page 40 so give it a try with a 20% expo setting on both aileron and elevator to start with. See if this helps make things a little more managable.

If you haven't got the manual its here http://www.spektrumrc.com/ProdInfo/Files/DX6_Maunal.pdf

20% will really dull it down with the dx6 don't forget to put it on both though as suggested also drag your dual rates down to 80 if there on 100 u should have one really soft heli at that u don't get expo for the rudder on the dx6 so bring down your travel adjust to slow down the spin rate.

If we are talking about for Phoenix - not for real. Don't do it on the tranny do it in the TX config page in Phoenix. You can assign expo for each channel in there. All you should need, if any, is 25% on Aileron and Elevator. Leave Pitch and tail as is.

It needs to be positive expo

OK, I'll try in the Phoenix settings first...possibly the easiest way...and less brain required :-)

                        cheers Bob

u haven't got any -expo on the dx6 bud but wot i did with my dx6 is set a new model up on your tx and call it sim then u can adjust the tx and find out wot difference it makes to your model if u set the simulator up the dx6 feels pretty real on all its setting.

                            Possibly I will try both.
I think you are saying that adjustments made to sim feel, the same however I change them?

OK, as I cannot really work out what to do on Phoenix, also having a quick study of my 'hover', I think nothing moves to quick for me. Just my incompedence is all!
