  • Pitch gauge.

    Hi again.

What would be a good pitch gauge to use with a Twister 3D? Seems to be a wide range on the market at all prices!

    Thanks

Probably the "micro" pitch guage - see usual shops online, usually around £8 to £10.

dont need a pitch gauge. fold the blades back and setup so the blades are inline at centre stick... this gives you zero pitch.

you then tune the max pitch in flight so it doesnt bog the head speed too much

only time i use one is so i can tell people how much pitch im running when they ask!

that zero trick I found only works on a tight no slop setup

you can feel for the slop in either direction, half way between is your true pitch setting. this is more accurate than a pitch gauge i find as it doesnt allow for slop/stiff links.

Ever since Ade tought me this I've never looked back. Have tried using a pitch gauge since but it just screws the settings up.

Surely not? When the disc is in flight and (say) the right way up in a hover, then the blades will have positive pitch on them, and the air resistance will force all the slop to one end. In an inverted hover, it will force all the slop to the other end.

so where in the range of the slop is it going to sit when your using your pitch gauge?

nobody knows so you can easily be a deg or more out on some helis

using my method its centred on the centre of the slop.

im not sure it will go to one end of the slop with a certain pitch. the blades will have to be stable or your going to be loading everything up.

ok... now my brain hurts that is getting towards the limits of my knowledge.
