    Hi,

    Just received a new unused MSR off a ebay, however the swashplate is no where near level. One of the servo arms is much longer than the other. As I spool up the heli just rolls left to a blade strike.

    The calibration tool fits in nice and snug, so I know its all put together ok, should I adjust the servo arm length to achieve a level swash plate?

    it would be great to hear from MSR owners who have a nicely trimmed MSR and if you could tell me how much trim you use and also the levelness (if thats a word!) of your swashplate before and after the trim

    Hi, are the servos them selves centered when you connect the battery? If so, it sounds like the servo arm that is pushing the swashplate up could just need shortening. If the servo itself is not in the center though it could be the trim is way out or a different problem. What TX are you using?

    For reference, my swashplate sits level, with the guide pin (the one at the rear) about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way from the bottom of the guide part of the chassis (sorry not sure what the correct name for this part, hope it makes sense!).

    In regards to trim, I find I often need to re-trim mine every time i change the battery, and as the battery runs down I need to adjust the trim slightly sometimes to, so it's always changing by a small amount.

      Thanks for the advice. I'm currently using the basic TX from the RTF version. I do have a DX6i that I intend to bind up when I have the MSR setup properly.

      My servos are centered fine, just the lengths of the servo arms are way out, but as they are supposed to be factory flown I didn't want to start adjusting things straight away, however I think I need too!!

      I assumed that the swash plate should be level as per my Blade 400, however I have not owned a FP micro heli before.

      Will adjust the linkages this afternoon

        if you look at the msr from the rear you will see the main shaft leans to the right. the swash needs to be set at 90 from the shaft so when the heli sits on a flat surface the swash does look out of level. its normal for the msr to slide left on take off. a little right cyclic is needed at the point of lift and released as soon as you leave the ground. trimming is best done in the air out of ground effect. if you try and trim out the left slide at ground level the heli will move rapidly to the right after lift off. the left slide is caused by the thrust of the rear rotor at lift off but weakens as the heli leaves ground effect. i also have a b400 and its easier to fly than the msr but the msr is a real fun machine and tough as old boots.

          The tendency to slide left is because the heli is level at take off. Helis need to be tilted slightly to the right to balance the force of the tail rotor.The msr has a lot of tendency to slide left especially on a smooth floor. This is normal. The maths isn't complicated, but doesn't help you fly any better.

            Thanks for the responses to my questions. Now flying like a dream, just the pilot needs a bit of tweaking! The setup as per chippy54 is excellent.
