  • Smoke

Hi all, i've just been reading a thread and they mention about fuel, cool power being the 1 in Q, They get a reply saying make sure you have plenty of smoke?? I'm using 15% and theres not really that much smoke i've wonder about this as most of the video's i've viewed on here the helis seemed to be throwing a hell of alot out? Is this only for the bigger engines? or dose it stand for any? my engine is a OS37...

    Cheers....

You will find in the videos they are running 20% or 30% nitro,
You wont get much smoke out of 15% more the smoke cooler the engine (i think )

The amount of smoke depends on 3 things,

1 How rich the engine is
      2 Which fuel you run
3 the volume of the muffler

Running cool power, you will not get as much smoke as say Wildcat, and nowhere near as much as Magnum fuel. Cool power has a lower oil content than Magnum and has no Castor oil in which is why it smokes more.

If there is very little smoke you maybe running lean, try opening the main needle by a couple of clicks, you will know if it is too rich as it will bog on climb out, or cut out completely as there is too much fuel going to the engine.

If you use a High volume muffler ( zimmerman for example ) the exhaust vapours and gasses have more time to condense, giving a more defined smoke trail.

      Hope this helps

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

      And a DX8 too

15% Coolpower for me at the moment - it doesn't smoke very much at all.

From recollection when I used Cool Power way back when, it didn't smoke very much... I think it was 10% too...

              Cheers,
