Get yourself a OS No.8 plug and either some coolpower 10% or Wildcat 10% as a minimum.

I use wildcat 15% for that extra power, modeltechnic fuel is fine, but its uses proper castor oil and will leave a brown burnt residue on your muffler over time, while the others use a synthetic oil as a lube and cooling agent.

Most hobby stores with stock coolpower, wildcat can be harder to find.

They have a "helimix" (EDL), "bekra" (EDL and Klotz) and "goglo" (ML70) which are fully synthetic.

I use "double orange" which is produced by Flair. It contains ML70 and has the same ratios (15% Oil, 10% Nitro, and 75% Methanol) as 10% "goglo".

        Hi Mark,

I use Model Technics contest 10 in all my helis, which as the name suggests contains 10% nitro. It also has 18% oil and 2% castor which although as has already been mentioned after a period of time does tarnish the exhaust but on the other hand castor is a very good if not one of the best lubricants for model engines.

The best bit with this fuel is it one of the cheapest available at 16.90 per UK gallon of 4.5 litres, other brands such as coolpower and wildcat are similarly priced although they are sold in US gallons which are 3.8 litres, so with the model technics you get more fuel for the same price.

I find that every so often, say three to four months I take the pipes off my helis and spray them with Mr Muscle oven cleaning foam, which brings them up like new, bolt them back on and away I go again.

As far as plugs go, one of the most popular plugs is the enya 3 which suits most engines well and certianly works well with the model technics fuel.

I use these plugs in all my helis, which have Irvine 39, OS 50, OS70, OS91sxh and the now deceased webra 50GTH.

        I hope this helps.

        Cheers,

        Pete.
