  • just wondering. how much would it cost for me to set up a t-rex 600..need to know.

Hi all. Im going away for 2weeks this week end. When i get back i am going to get a honeybee and more importantly pheonix-sim. From there i want to get something bigger, more stable. from talking to raptormadsteve something around the lines of a t-rex 600 (elec) although this will change. im just trying to get to know what to expect for price.

One thing i am confused at is Nitro. I have no experience with engines and i am worried that this would prove a problem. Iv seen allot of discussion about how far you have to travel to a fly zone. And this effects what heli you choose. As for access to a field

Whats your opinion on a second heli, do i go nitro even thought i dont have a clue about engines.....any respone would be awsome. thanks

Assuming you've got nothing in the way of gear so far:

    Nitro .50 sized:
    Heli : £280
    Engine: £150
    Gyro and rudder servo: £150
    Fueling equipment: £100
    Radio and servo's: £250
    Misc bits and peices: £100
    Total £1030

    Electric
    Heli (TRex 600N) £400
Charger and balance for 6S: £200
    2 x 6S packs £400
    Radio: £250
    Gyro and rudder servo: £150
    Misc bits and peices: £100
    Total: £1450

These are very rough prices and you should get a discount if you shop around properly, import from the US or get everything from one place. Try heliproz.com, but understand that buying overseas means one less local person you're supporting, and guess who'll you'll want help from if/when things go wrong.

        Hi,

I personally wouldn't get a Trex 600E if your just starting out, yes there plug and play but you won't get much practice on an electric unless you have lots of lipo's or don't mind waiting for pack to charge (you will get p***ed off waiting for lipo's to charge, believe me)

I don't know how far you are from Fastlad but maybe it's worth buying from them if your close then thay can help you out setting it up, tuning the engine etc.

Get a 50size nitro get it checked over and running ok, then burn lots of fuel practicing.

        Thats what I would do.

        Simon.

They do have a good reputation here and should have no trouble beating the figures I've mentioned above.

Don't ask, should I get a Raptor, Trex or Knight on this forum LOL

Upto you which model you like, Raptor is good for learning with cheap parts easy to get, same with the others really. pick one you like and that is supported/stocked well where you intend to buy from.

I'm sure where ever you buy it from they can check it over, set the engine for you ???

              Simon.

Raptors were the best a few years back, but they're getting slagged off here as their design has not been updated in a while and their competators have surpassed them. However, its still a good heli with tons of expertise out there for when things go wrong. At the moment, Als Hobbies is selling a TT Raptor Titan 50 for £220. Add £120 to that for a OX 50Hyper from Fast lad and you're looking at a real bargan.

Me? I'd buy everything from 1 store, as you could probably talk them into checking it over for you once it built and maybe even taking it for a test flight. Nice to go back to only 1 place when/if things go wrong.

                  Hi

If money is a problem, why not go Hirobo Sceadu Evo 30 (£179 Midlands) with an Irvine 36 (£60 Inwoods)?

I'm afraid I just don't get this constant banging on about 50 size Heli's when there is an alternative.

I cannot remember the last time someone mentioned a 30 size Heli (except maybe the Raptor 30 V2 which is also worth looking at) as a good starting point?

There are many pilots on here that are way above me and most people in terms of ability and their views are very important, but why oh why must the 30 class be completely ignored.

                  I just don't get it.

                  Ahh......just answered my own rant

                  Cheers

Yep, makes me laugh reading all the posts where people slag the Raptor, only because it's not the latest/greatest model out at the moment. ROFLMAO

Yes, but its a smaller heli - its the Trex 450, which has a 700mm rotor disk diameter. The 600 has a diameter of around 1300, almost twice the size

                              .
Nothing wrong with learning on a 30, I did. But the differance in price between a 30 and 50 is not alot especially on spares after a crash, but you get slightly larger heli which makes it a tiny (and I mean tiny) bit more stable.

                              Simon.
