A good way to start Wayne, co-axes are stable and allow you to get used to it slowly. See how you get on with it and then look to change to collective pitch when you feel a bit more in control and if you stick with the hobby. It's frustrating to start with but you get a right buzz when you start controlling it without thinking about it. Mind the cat though

It gets more difficult I think as you learn more. You just try things that you wouldn't have thought of to begin with. Main thing with a beginning heli is how well it survives a crash. Small helis like the mcx and the msr are very good. The larger you get the more damage gets done and the more it costs as well. Every step you make is pretty good. There are a lot of steps though.

FMS is a free sim. Not all that good. But free. Phoenix is the best value investment.

HI, I am new to this hobby as well, based on my experience, I would suggest you to get a simulator, it's very useful to practicing on flying skills. The simulator saved me thousand on learning fly from the crash.

                        Good luck
