  • Next heli is a ?

    Hello all

I have a blade MSR at the moment and although I love it, I am also looking at other helis in the future. Before I purchased the MSR I had been looking at different helis for a month and not only did I get confused, but there's a lot of choice out there. What limits my choice is I am not keen on the larger helis, mainly due to lack of space to fly it and our great (usually wet) weather. I will be purchasing a heli sim when I have the funds to buy one (windows 7 compatible only) but I was wondering what heli you would recommend and why. I was looking at the Honeybee V2 on Buzzflyer (before I realised it was a large heli) because the deal seemed good. I know this hobby is going to be expensive, but so was my last one (archery) so I have some saving to do.

Blade 120SR Nice helis and one step up from the mSR

Oh yeah and get rid of that horrible stock tx that comes with the mSR and get yourself a DX6i

Thanks Tiddler I have been thinking of doing just that. The issue is I can barely hover with the stock tx because I am new to this flying business, but I do like the DX6i

The mSR flies much nicer with the DX6i m8. That stock tx is a nasty little thing and just feels all wrong in the hands

Dx6i works well with Phoenix as well

+1 on that Tiddler.... The 120sr has been my best heli purchase to date and definately the DX6i as well.... Not top of the range tx but good value and one that will see me good for a long while yet....

My 120sr has a few mods.... Nothing daft or expensive and the trex 250 landing gear... Now fully set up she is smooth and locked in. She feels like a bigger heli and more smoother and steadier than the MSR.....a real pleasure to fly.

When you say you dont want anything too big.. and flying space is an issue my only word of caution would be the 120sr is ok at set moves and hovering inside but really needs the open air to go play properly. Ive just got an MSR from a friend and its much better suited to living rooms than my 120sr... Yet the MSR seems alot more twitchy and more like an angry wasp ( i assume down to its tiny size.?) More setting up to be done hence the DX6i....

If your happy to hover around inside and play when the weather is good you cant beat a well sorted 120sr in my view.....

No worries mate... Its is only my view but i know most people that have them.... love em..!!!

If you look on helifreaks forum they have a 120sr thread with loads of posts about the 120sr... good reading..!!! Also if you have a good LMS pop along and have a test flight see how you get on with it.

The good thing with a DX6i is the adjustments you can make which will help you get to grips with the flying side of things.

Im still relatively novice at flying helis too and owning both MSR and 120sr i can say the 120sr is much easier to hover and fly in my opinion.... very beginner friendly as long as you dont go too mad with it...

+1 only had my 120sr a few days and can hover it pretty well, just started trying to do nose in with it - i just need a bigger room or some decent weather so i can get to grips with it properly.

Thanks for the info helipilot, will pop over there myself have have a good read.

Would be interested in a list of mods you have done to it, if you don't mind.

Am in ur postion to mate have msr and love flying it around my house ! Can hover tail in and nose in and also fly tight figure 8 but I'm looking at progressing to a 6th heli . The blade 400 is what I'm checking out it also comes with that dx6i tx and can be bought rtf from £205 E-Flite Blade 400 3D Helicopter DX6i - RTF EFLH1400 - Helicopters - Radio Control - Toys & Radio Control - Daniel Stores - ... They also do the 120sr there or even a slightly bigger sr 6channel which is smaller than the 400 I'm looking at .. Hope this may help ...
I would like a trex 450 but until I'm confident at flying I can't spend that much cash ... But msr is great to practice on if u struggling to hover it try clicking down right stick which makes controls less sensitive ... Have fun ...

don't quote me on this but i believe the tail on the pro is TT and the sport is belt driven.

Apart from that i have no idea sorry
