  • Building MSR from scratch

    Hi everyone

I am very new here, to both helis and this forum (account active today, and flew my Blade MSR yesterday). After my friend and other half smacked my shiny new Blade MSR in to a wall in its second flight (survived unscathed apart from its now flying backwards in a hover) I was wondering two things:

Would it be beneficial to purchase another receiver other than the Spektrum that shipped with the Blade MSR, since I am so new I am struggling to understand how that lil' thing works

and I am also interested in how the Blade MSR flies, and I have decided I want to actually build one from scratch since there are so many spares for it, as I believe it will give me an understanding of how it works and what happens if it goes wrong...I built my own computer three years ago and that helped me a lot.

In case you are wondering, I have liked helicopters since the 1980s when Airwold aired on TV...how I loved that show!

    Thanks all

Welcome in as for the MSR just don't think too deeply it will make your brain hurt

However I love the humor in your sig.

Thank you Rachel. I am in university, so my brain is already fried, but unfortunately the memory behind it is melfunctioning too. I am plagued with a deep curiosity which gets me in to some mischief...still its better than being BORED!

Hi m8 and welcome to the forum
Firstly, I would try using the little swash levelling tool that comes with the mSR and be sure you insert the battery fully into its tray so as not to upset the C of G.

Secondly, buying enough spares to build a complete heli would be seriously expensive way of doing things If your determined to build one from scratch then just buy a plug and play version (Just the heli) strip it and rebuild it.
Personally, I wouldn't bother tbh. Just enjoy the little heli for what it is and save your learning building skills for something a bit bigger
