  • E-Flite Blade 400

    Hi,

I'm a total newbee to this sport but have put in a good few hours of research of the past few days into finding out the best heli for a total novice. From the reviews I have read the blade 400 seems to be a very cost effective way to start as comes as a complete kit with radio, what are peoples views on this choice! Ideally I would love to get a heli i could build myself does anyone have any suggestions that wont break the bank.

    Cheers

    Get the Blade 400.
Take it to pieces and learn how to put it together. Cost effective with the DX6i.
When you crash, and you will do ;-) you'll already have some knowledge of how to put it back together.

i have the blade 400 with the dx6i i highly recommend this as a starter set up and as there are a good few up grades i.e tail servo etc etc that will help fly it better at not much extra cost

Agreed,Blade 400 and dx6i without a doubt.Upgrade it later if you want or just fly it till you are ready for something bigger.cheap as anything to repair when you break it and handily most spares come in packs of 2 so you end up with a nice set of spares

What amount are we saying when you say won't break the bank, a peasants bank, or an f1 drivers bank?

yes that is a good heli to start with and like many others that have said you get the dx6i and you can use it on other models in the future.

Before you take it apart take a photo. Take lots of closeup photos as there are lots of wrong ways of putting it together.

Don't take the horns off the servos unless you have to. It is easy to put them back on the wrong splines and then the heli will be out of trim.

You may need to continue with the research. Perhaps you could look up msr and phoenix.

I got the msr mate and have learnt to hover tail in and nose in and able to do tight figure 8 circuits (as indoors) but now I wanna progress to a 6ch heli and am to looking at the blade 400 as nit a tight budget but don't wanna shell out big bucks and realise this isn't for me .. Can get this on Daniels stores for £205 rtf at mo too !!
If I get better flying heli's after I get a 6ch I would probably by a trex 450 kit but till then I think I'm gona go for blade 400 with the dx6i and a copy of the phoenix sim .. Have fun ..

That's good. You probably don't need to bother with a blade 400 then. Go for a trex. If you are good mechanically you can save a lot by getting a trex clone. They start at £40. It will teach you about trex mechanics and give you access to cheap parts. The blade is a dead end. It's ok once you can fly ok, and you upgrade the battery, servos, rotor blades, gyro and get rid of the plastic bits and the crap charger. I wonder why it's so cheap?

Whichever route yo ugo there is one certainty. Someone will tell you what a grave grave error you just made. If you like building stuff you are in the right hobby as kit or RTF within a few hours it will be back to kit again "crased". If your impatient to get going buy the Blade400 and enjoy. If you want to procrastinate for a further X months start re-search on the clones. If you have slightly deeper pockets buy an Align all in kit and a DX8i.

If your unsure abou the blade being a heli that can take you places check out this on youtube Jamie Robertson [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6FZpTxoxZc]YouTube - Jamie Robertson - Blade 400 #1[/ame]. He's good of course but also able to show you what the STOCK blade 400 is capable of.
