  • storm 3d pitch

hi, ive got a storm 3d, im only just starting out with it .. ive got it hovering ok , but when i get into a panic situation and drop the throttle quick it sucks its self into the ground. doing damage. i assume its cos of the negative pitch? is there a way to alleviate this. using a dx6i with it..is it possible to take the negative pitch side out of it while getting used to it ..thanks glenn

try changing your pitch curve in the DX6i to something like

    40, 43, 50, 75, 100.

this should give you a max negative pitch of around -3 degrees.
You want a small amount of negative to ensure you can get the heli down. If you were running a minimum of 0 degrees the heli may be a bit floaty on windy days.

Dropping the throttle quick is your problem. You just can't do that. I remember doing it myself and it's very difficult to avoid doing it. Perhaps practice short hops for a bit until you can land it ok?

thanks for the replies. ive also just found out my blade grips are on upside down, i noticed this when i first got it but i didnt think it mattered. but ive just read on the net that it moves the arms to leading edge instead of trailing edge which makes it a lot more responsive and twitchier to fly, so im assuming this could contribute to my problem too ..im going to fit it all back as it should have been and try it again ..
oh and you are right about its me dropping the throttle quickly..is there a different technique i need to be using? thanks glenn
