Following advice here I bought is a pair of adapters for Vernier ....
    Fast Lad Performance

Just wondered why there is a female thread in each 'cone' .... what or why would you be heading anything into the tips of the cones.

I would think it's for screwing in ball links matching the size of the machine you fly !!

Call me old fashioned but a ruler works just as good - save the £6. :-)

Exactly, the images in the item description show ball links in place and not depending on what you are measuring...

I use vernier callipers and measure measuring the outer edge of the inner face of the link, I know how large the opening is so if I need to know centre to centre I just knock off the size of the link opening.

I was tempted to purchase a set of these last year but it went out of stock while I was deciding

I have allways used verniers for that type of mesuring job,
makes it real easy to set multipull eaqual lengths without
            squinting at a ruler !

They work fine, FYI the slots that are machined in the adaptors are deep enough so that the centre of the cone lines up with the edge of the vernier, i.e. true reading.

I just use the internal measuring prongs on top of the verniers. That works fine too.

Well not a quite .... I have a good vernier, and that is far more accurate than a ruler

It was the comment about the link balls that I hadn't seen ..obvious now

Lay the links on a piece of paper, use a sharp pencil and draw around the inside of each link. Measure with a ruler.
