  • Thoughts on Honey Bee King 2 by Esky and Walkera 60

Hi, I'm new to helicopters and want to get some advice before I buy a heli. I don't want to spend too much as its a first heli and it will probally end up crashing alot so parts need to be cheap.

I've had expereince with nitro cars before, owned some thunder tigers and team associated tc3. Found nitro to be more exciting but requiring more maintance. I think I'd prefer an electric heli as I then could use it in the afternoon (5-8ish) without complaints or feeling guilty.

Here are 3 helicopters Im considering :
These two have some impressive videos with flying upside down on the links.

Esky - Honey Bee King 2

    Walkera 60

Or a electric raptor which I think the Walkera 60 is a copy of. Just I've had thunder tigers before with the odd problem but they seemed to be mid-range compared to the competitors. Is there anything better than a raptor in that price range ? also the model shop which supplied thunder tiger parts near me closed down and I've read in forums that they will stop making parts for them soon. Is this true?

I saw a venom rc helicopter and have used some of there fails safes before which were great anyone had expereince with their heli's?

Can I have any thoughts ? would be appreciated

Should I avoid the Esky honey bee king 2 ?

Any other brands apart from thunder tiger raptors out there which are good ?

One thing all will agree on, avoid Walkera products.

I started on an Esky CP2, it was no good for learning but got me hooked, I know of someone who is learning to hover on the King though which is a lot better - though still not great.

The only small electric I would recommend is the Align Trex 450 SE but it will cost you.

One thing you can be sure of in this hobby and that is usually cheap is rubbish ok some expensive stuff can be but generally if its cheap it usually is very nasty. Buy a good machine it will cost more but the benifits will show how fast you can learn. We have all heard that a bad workman blames his tools! Take that out of the equasion and buy rite. buying cheap usually ends up with you getting diss heartened and then no longer interested.

Thanks for the feeback so far I think I will go with theAlign T-rex 450 and that comes with :
                          -RCE-BL35X 35A Brushless ESC(Govener Mode)X1
                          -430L Brushless motor(3550KV)X1

Any tips on what electrical equipment to use on this ? (servo's , gyro ,reciever, etc)

                            Servos:
                            Hitec HS56MG x3 (Cyclics)
                            Futaba S9650/S3154 x1 for rudder

                            Gyro:

                            Receiver:
DSP based receiver, unless you have a 2.4ghz setup?

                            Cheers,

Thanks for the help. I think I will get that GY401 as it comes with the rudder servo.

Is that DSP reciever reliable ? never heard of that brand before. I've got a 35hmz Futaba remote would it be compaitable with that ?

Do you know where I can get those Hitec servos from ? Also how do they perform ?
