    Hi Andrew,
    welcome to the forum.
    I have also a T-Rex 450.
I don't know the EXI 500, but it seems it's near to the size of the 450.
    Why don't think about a 600 size?

Whoaa up there fella, Heli's are easy to buy but to not fly. Spend the mony on a sim like Phoenix a good tx like the DX7 and practice flying the different models on the sim and get a feel for the 450,500 & 600 size birds.

Saying that I can't fault you enthusam and good choice helicopter.

              Andrew,

Build the 450 and fly it first, you'll suddenly find there's lots more to learn and have fun with and it'll take up all your time

As you get into hovering and moving around the 'real thing' you will realise you want something bigger and more stable.

If you really want electric then the Trex 550 is the one to go for.

Nitro, the Trex 600 with a 55 engine.

Three bits of advice I would give anyone just starting is.

              1) Get insured (either BMFA or RCHA) - most important
              2) Don't buy the cheapest, it will only cost you more.
              3) Find a local club and join up, go talk to the guys there.

Enjoy it, have fun, stay safe.

Hi and welcome to our great forum.

Another you might consider, if you are after a 500 size machine, would be the HK500 from Hobbyking. Very good value.

Good value, but how easy is it to get spare parts in the UK ? I would stay with the popular machines, there's much more help available and parts are cheap and easy to get.

Simples!!!!!! The HK500 is a TRex500 clone, and so most Align, if not all parts will fit.

Didn't realise it was a complete clone. Cheap clones frighten me to death, been there and not going back. If you really want a cloned 500 then the flasher is probably the one to go for, but I'd stay with the 550.

Just get yourself a nice Trex 500 or 550 combo, if you buy a clone you will probably end up spending your cash on align parts in the end anyway. Sure, you pay a bit more for the Trex's but their so popular for a reason. Nice machines to build and fly, just watch out for the frame screws

Hi and welcome to the forum ... Build and fly the 450 first and see if you want to stay in the hobby ... I seen a few that buy loads of heli's and love building but end up leaving as they dont like flying ... Try one first and see if the hobby is for you .. As for other models ...Theres other models out there other than the Align range so worth checking out other models first

The EXI is a Trex clone too, so the Flasher would be a good option.
