Ive just stuck a picture on the gallery of my Irvine 36 engine with extra wide guide holes to take a variety of different shape fixings. Is this a common mishap during the early stages of Helicopter flyng?

Reckon I'll make sure I tighten those screws extra tighty wighty next timey wimey..

I realise you know doubt don't want to hear this, but I would either get a new Irvine engine and use that one for spares or get a new casing. Any vibration or movement in the engine will transfer to the clutch and everwhere it can, over time it will do no good to your heli, the worst case would be flying and watching your engine fall out in mid flight 8O .

No matter how hard you tighten the bolts eventually you'll loose the battle remember that things turning at 17,000 rpm.

Buy a new crankcase and transfer everything over to it. Its no trouble at all. All the information you'll need should (haven't seen one) be in the manual.

I damaged the crankcase on my OS32SXH. Bought a new one from Just Engines. Swapped everything over to the new one and it was exactly the same.

I did buy a new set of gaskets though.
