  • Battery help.

My new heli came with a 3600mah Nimh Rx pack.

Would that be 4.8, 6.0 or 7.2 volts?

How would I tell? It's covered in masking tape...

Probably 4.8v. That's the standard for Rx batts.

Indeed - RC based NiMh packs are almost always 1.2volts per cell - so 4.8v in your case.

It could be 6v,,have you got a voltmeter?

        More than likely 4.8 though

Make sure you charge it & give it a good workout on the bench before first flights mate & invest in an L.E.D battery checker if you dont have one already

Just worth making sure the battery is healthy beforehand that's all, which of course I'm sure it is

Battery checker should arrive tomorrow. Battery tester (Futaba BR 2000) says the battery is healthy. It's basically brand new.. But thanks. Will keel an eye on that sucker.

For peace of mind, I'd cycle the pack twice with a suitable cycler/charger.

If it does reach 95% of the stated value (i.e. 3420 mAh) then don't use it in a flying model.

With the Futaba BR2000, charge the pack and discharge it using the BR2000 set to 2A.

Then recharge and test on 1A (screw on the side of the checker).

I use a 2400 mAH NiCD battery and the Futaba is great at checking the capacity etc.

Takes a few cycles before they reach full capacity.

                  Cheers
