  • t-rex 600 or thunder tiger mini titan

Hi guys just want to know from you who have flown helis for some time now which of the two helis are the best to buy at the moment, Ive heard different stories from various people but I feel that I will obviously get the best answer from this site

so to anyone who has one of these helis the t-rex 600 or 450 or even the mini titian e325 which one you would recogmend, I saw a mini titan on
ebay for 150 quid is that cheap, I was expecting 400 pounds min, or does someone even know of a shop or website where I can buy one from with a remote

    anyways take care
hope to get some feed back soon

I would suggest that if you are a beginner looking for a model to learn to hover with, I would go with the mini titan, as it is incredibly well behaved in the air and with the standard wood blades is very smooth and predictable, which are all the charactoristics in a model you need to help you learn.

The prices are good for the mini titan too, as Thunder Tiger now have a complete electronics pack to go with the bare model which can either be bought in kit or ARTF form. The spares are also reasonably priced and being a Thunder Tiger will be easy to get hold of.

      Cheers,
      Pete.

        Totaly agree Pete.
Im a noob & my Mini Titan is brilliant not overly specced either but flies darned fine for a novices machine.

The only problem with the mini titan is it's plastic and it all breaks when you crash it.....much like the plastic T-Rex 450. Cheap to buy but more expensive to run, which is why I prefer the T-Rex V2 as it has all metal head parts which are unlikely to break in the inevitable crashes that beginners have.

I own all three of the helis mentioned, the 600 is a different class of heli to the other two and costs are much higher, especially battery packs. Of the three I'd recommend the Mini Titan, a cheap plastic heli that flys much better than its price would lead you to believe and at least as good as my Trex 450SE imho.

The 450SE is not the same as a 450 SE V2......the V2 is a superior machine for flying capability. Just to be clear

Can I ask how you know this is the case Ash?
Do you have first hand experience or is this just more here say put about by Align owners or worst still Align sponsored pilots?
I guess the best thing to do is not crash them but I agree, the alloy parts on a SE V2 are more likely to with stand an impact but I guess you have also got to think about all the other ancilaries. The gyro location the RX location the battery location etc. Your nice shiney new SE V2 may mostly survive the crash due to its much more expensive design but if it's design allows the motor, controller, lipo etc to get damaged wheres the saving?

My father works at skyline part time so I get to hear all about what breaks on machines and how the different machines fair for durability.

The mini titan and also the T-Rex 450S both suffer from parts breakage in crashes. Motors are rarely broken, lipos usually get broken in canopy first crashes but otherwise survive ok. Nearly all plastic micro helicopters break the mixer arms, blade grips and so on in a crash. Alloy heli's rarely break any of these parts. It doesn't take many crashes before you wish you'd got the alloy version.

Yeh I can understand that Ash but we cant all afford the initial very high cost of these alloy & carbon Micro Helis.
Fortunately this isnt an exclusive club which is where these low cost helis come in & the mini titan is the cream of the bunch which flies as well as a V1 SE so all the noobs should buy one if they cant afford an Align v2 se.

I haven't flown a well setup (for 3D) mini titan yet but the ones I have flown have been nice enough. For those who can't do the alloy stuff straight off it can pay to replace with alloy as you break stuff, that way it spreads the cost.

I have bought a Mini Titan, and would add you all have very valid points, One thing perhaps to remember is that when you are a newbie, or simply inexperienced like myself, you need HELP, I bought mine as the local shop where I go have used them, and in there opinion are as good if not better than the similar Trex, spares are cheap, and I have to say, it is a good looking model, some nice touches like the pre-asembled tail drive is good, and although I have only had mine out a couple of times, I already love it, very stable, and I am looking forward to flying it more.
                        I guess like many things

                          Getting back on track.
The two are very different helis & can hardly be compared to one another.
If funds permit go for the Trex 600 it's a 50 size heli & will be far more stable set up as a beginner's model. It will cost you a small fortune & battery packs are £180. To get the most out of electric you will need about 4 to keep you flying all day.
The Mini Titan will be a fair amount cheaper initialy but you may find you grow out of it quickly if you have the tallant to fly helicopters well.
Batterys are also only £33 each from Mike at Aurrora.
