  • Century Swift for 4S setup?

    Hi Folks

Everyone seems to be going on about the Trex 600 when it comes to larger electric heli's. One of the 'other' forums I've been active on, everyone was speaking about the Century Swift 16.

What is the current thought regarding .30 sized electric heli's? I've got quiet some gear towards a 4S setup, including Lipo's, ESC and charging setup. My Prodigy II charger does not scale to 6S charging, thus my current train of thought.

Anyone care to comment on the wisdom of buying a Swift and an axi 2826/8 for my 4S 4000mah and 4S 3200mah packs? Are there better alternatives?

    Regards
    Andrew

I have heard that the Swift is OK but has a few faults or weak areas,i have seen them in action and they appear to be very nice though but people with far more hands on experience will be better placed to comment than me

Seeing as you already have the Prodigy 2 and suitable Lipos,i see your point of view and it makes a lot of sense

It was a real wallet buster getting the 600`s support equipment etc but once you have it,its there for future projects

I run a 4s Swift with that Axi motor. SAB 530 blades.

Much better than the stock Century stuff. Does me just fine, but I'm not into 3d or anything like.

This set up is faster than my Raptor 30 and I have to say (now I've got it sorted) that I prefer the Swift.

For the money, the Swift is pretty good. Make sure you get the later, higher undercart though.

        All the best

the Century 600+ is a much better motor than the AXI for power on 4S.

I watched someone flying a Swift with the 600+ and a 4S 3700 setup and performance is surprisingly good, certainly better than the Axi which runs pretty hot, the 600+ motor lands much cooler. I was running the 600+ motor in my Raptor E550 as its the same motor as the TT version for the E550, after a 7 minute flight pushing reasonably hard the motor lands barely warm.

Wow, and I thought the Axi was a very popular and proven choice for a 4S setup. At least, thats what I was under the impression after reading the review on swift-tuning.com!

You are correct, it is a popular and proven choice. However, the 600+ is a better motor, the review for that is also on the site.

Times change and new motors appear! Century are touting the 550 as a 4S motor though, not the 600+ but at least this gives you the option of upgrading to a 6S setup later.

What's that then Steve....you sold me a duff motor (Joking....very pleased with it!!)

Compared to the Century stock the Axi runs much cooler (I have fitted the fan) and I get 10 mins on a 3700 & 12 mins on a 4350.

Keep the 600+ for me though....next upgrade from Steve's spares box

That picture is the wrong motor, that's the 600 not the 600 plus.

The 550 is pretty good as well but I prefer the versatility with the 600+.

I think it the lower V3 undercarriage with spacers under the back of the heli. I had the tall under carriage and it did the funky chicken on start up!
