i have just found that part on silent heli website.
HS1020-1 Tail case assembly for just £5.64 and theres a load of other useful parts to gt in now also as spares so im going to do some shopping there this week!
Great. The Trex is very popular and there are hundreds of sites out there that stock spares, so I'm sure you will be just fine.

I'm afraid that you may strugg;e there. The way in which Knife Edge Software (the makers of RealFlight) ensure that people don't copy their software without a license is by incorporating some logic in the lead. Basically, without the lead, the software won't run. I think you may find that the lead is not available at a reduced price.

You may want to think about other software. FMS is a free simulator that is downloadable over the internet and would only require a lead. Many many people stock them - just google 'FMS lead' and you'll find hundreds of matches.

The next step up is probably Phoenix-Sim. It has a huge following here and I've recently purchased it myself. Its cheaper than most at around £80, comes with its own lead, and is photo-realistic. What I like most about it is that is doesn't require a super-computer to run. I use my two-year old laptop just fine. I've spent many an hour is RealFlight flying both heli's and planes and my personal opinion is that Phoenix is better. And, considering the retail price for G3 is around £135, its considerably cheaper.

      Regards
      Andrew

Short answer is No it wont. Have you not got any of the leads from the realflight simulator? Is it just the disk you have?

Oh, I forgot to add - the great benefit of Phoenix is that its got a learning-to-hover mode, where you can choose which controls you want to be taken care of for you. In other words, the sim will take care of a combination of either rudder, elevator and aileron for you, making the hovering process much simpler. IMO, that makes it better than real-flight for use as a learning tool.

I've got one of those. Works fine for FMS. Not for Realflight at all.

He's got a point. Simon, in your picture above, there is something that looks like a lead just above the replacement skids and below what looks like the spray bottle of lubricant. What is that?

i will get one of those leads and use the fms that comes with it then, if need be i will buy a new realflight,

there are no leads for the futaba tx uniti to pc in there at all. i checked and re-checked.

i got the realflight cds and a manual but thats it, the l;eads couldnt be found. i have got a starter and more bits coming this week though

one other thing, the t-rex i have is a version 2 model with li-po power. i dont have the manual for this, and on aligns website its a page by page slow process, is there somewhere i can just download the complete manual as a pdf?

i found two manuals but they are for 450xl cde/hde models. not the 450x v2 that i have.

                thanks

forget about fms. you will really feel the benefit if you go for phoenix. it took some convincing for me to get it at £80 but its definatly worth it.

most will agree its better than realflight

I can't seem to find your 450x manual either, although I'll keep on looking.

In the mean time, have you discovered www.trextuning.com yet?

well i managed to grab all the manual pages off aligns site, what a waste of time that was barely anything of info in it at all.

i stil cant find a pdf manual anywhere, but the other 450xl manuals are similar i can refernce them for now

Not sure where you can find the trex450x build manual. This model was superceded by the XL. They then introduced the metal head and tail with carbon frame SE, and revently dropped the plastic frame models so the current models are trex450s (metal frame with plastic/ali head and plastic tail), and 450SE which has all the cnc stuff and a beefed up head in its latest version.

Ashley davis still has the 450x build thread up at trextuning.co.uk (or .com).
http://www.trextuning.com/builda.php which will be next best thing to a manual.

The original spare parts for your trex are easily identified as they are grey rather then black for all the plastic stuff. also you might find those parts selling a bit cheaper, but they will prabably soon be scarce (not yet).
This doesn't matter as most if not all of the later XL and ali SE parts will fit.
All the newer trexs have a longer tail boom and 397t tail belt to allow use of 325mm blades but it is the same diameter boom as the original.

which brings me to the damaged tail on your trex.
I would actually recommend getting the HS1078 Tail rotor control set as it holds the pitch plate top and bottom which means a lot less slop. This will probably fit to the grey tail case which you need to replace as the essential lug snapped off.
However HS1020-1 Tail case assembly has everything you need if you want to economise.

A word of warning when you stat playing with the trex. Electric motors start accidentally.
when you are fiddling and setting up then unplug the ESC from the Rx and plug a normal rx battery in instead, then you can set up the pitch and gyro etc with no risk of the things setting off on the kitchen table with associated blood guts and tears.
Quoting someone else in a recent thread...
Don't ask me how i know...

Also looking at the trex, you might want to mount the ESC further forward away from the Rx. also the Gyro should have the top face 90 degrees to the main shaft (later trex frame has a suitable face for that). with the gyro leaning back like that you will get some strange effects (some change in gyro heading as you apply aileron). In steady hover and stooge about it won't make much difference though.

so basically i can buy all the upgrades parts for the 450xl as these include all the cnc ali parts from the silent heli site and that will sort things out.

in the collection of things i already have the longer boom arm, rotors and skids as in the kit , im not sure what else is there i will look tomorrow.
