Hi there i'd go for phoenix had most of the others reflex xtr and realflight and i'd say phoenix is the best. If you buy from www.mrmodels.co.uk its £79.99 with free post and packing.
Regards Steve
You will also need to buy a TX on top of the £79.99 this can be upwards of £50 depending on type & make, also make sure that the lead is compatible with the TX.
I suggest if your serious about RC flying & helis in particular you buy as good a radio as you can afford otherwise you will regret it very soon when you have to lay out another substantial sum for a better radio.

I reckon Phoenix is ok but found Phoenix to be more realistic, you could also try Phoenix which now has mulitplayer which is good, but then to start with I'd probalby reccomend Phoenix to learn on and then move onto Phoenix when you want to get into 3D.
All the above sims plug in to your USB port but you will need a transmitter of some sorts, Skyline models used to do a package with a cheap radio.

... and I suppose transmitters are another deep deep topic? Is there a FAQ on them, as I would have a hope in hell's chance of making the correct choice, have no idea about how many channels, etc etc., frequencies etc.
I do accept that I would have to buy the best i can afford now to avoid duplication in future.
I think he is tryin to say that PHOENIX Is the one to buy! another good thing about PHOENIX IS YOUR PC DOES NOT HAVE TO BE TOP SPEC . mine only has a pentium 4 1600 and it runs great. <y mate has a pentium 3 laptop and it runs well on that!

Think you need to find a club once you have chatted to the lads there and asked advice from them like what they use. Mainly futaba jr and the new kid spektrum . It will be of great help to you as when you come to buy an rc heli they will be able to help you with set up. also what mode to choose throttle right mode one or throttle left mode 2...
Regards Steve
well, ive bought an esky controller for my V2, it has a trainer socket. After some resurch I have discovered a site called http://www.smartpropoplus.com/BlueAndGrey/default.asp
this allows you to connect up a transmitter, they also offer free flight simulation software. Even if your transmitter doesnt have a connector it is possible to mod if you know what your doing. As for the cable, your suppposed to buy one, but I made mine with some bits I had lying round and the signal goes into your sound card. It all sounds a bit weird and complicated, but its well worth the effort and not to bad to do! Ive been using it loads, only problem is you have to have the controller switched on, if you remove the crystal it saves on loads of power. It doesnt need the crystal for sim mode.
