  • Gyros

What gyros are considered fairly standard for helis and how much should I expect so spend? Do you need them on both the tail and main rotors? How insane would it be to attempt to fly a heli without any gyros?

okay mad to try without one....

401 and 9254 are good for a begineer like yourself easy to setup and will take you through to mild 3D.

fast lads performance do the combo for 139 poundish normal retail around 159-179

CSM also make good gyros a 560 with a 9254 is a great combo
gyro 110 servo is 50-60 ish

either way around 139 to 200 pounds depending on gyro/servo combo and what machine you want it for. the 9254 is a bit big for a small electric model.

The 560 will last longer but demands a good tail setup, 401 you can get away with some sloppy ness and doesnt demand perfection.

tail only and good digital servo is a wise investment you'll find 99% run digital servos as a must. because there very quick and acurate.

Just got a futaba GY401 and 9253 combination from Hong Kong ( neogl.com).
The heli it has gone into is now completely different, absolutely great. Just installed it and it flew a dream.

As disc said it just worked!
Note to self, Must Fly more

So is that one gyro for the tail and one for the main blades?

Also, do the gyros sit between the rx and the servo?

You only need a gyro on the tail servo & yes it sits between the RX and tail servo.
