sullivan starter batteries

Hi All, i have bought sullivan high tork starter and want use it with the twin battery packs attached to it,i pressume two 7.2 volts will be ok but was unsure what mah i would need to last a day at the field.
What do you guys use?.

The battery in my flight box is a 12v 7ah sealed lead acid battery.

there was a big thing about using nicads on starters. either 12 or 14cells.

trouble is that your only going to have 2400mah ish which isnt much so its something else to keep topped up. it also makes the starter very heavy.

your going to need a 12v source in your tool box to charge up models and to charge your starter anyway so its not like your saving any weight. overall either.

just stick a single 12v 7ah battery in your tool box, it will start 50s all day long and do some charging too. if you put 2 in parrallel it will start 90s with no problem too.

I have a 'Leasure Battery' which I take with me. Luckily we back our cars along the pitts, so its no carry.

I've never run it down yet

The Dynatron will run up to 24V too, so you can run 2 x 12v in series for super starting!

Sullivan do consider that you could use as much as 20 Ni-Cd cells to use its Hi-Tork starter at full capabilities... the problem is weight and it's not very convenient.

Currently I'm using a 3*6 Ni-Cd 2200mah cells which "seems" to work ok...
I'll probably move to a 3700 or even higher capacity 6s LiPo battery... (no cycle needed, lighter, can last for several days, can deliver more amps to the starter...)
