  • my trip to the indoor meet

    hi
yesterday i went to my local clubs indoor meet. i was talking to the people there about my next move of buying a rappy 50 and joining there club. i was then told that there is a waiting list and that it will probly be a year before i get in. he also said that buying a t-rex first would be a better move. I am reluctant to do this as it has tacken a long time to save for the raptor and if i buy a t-rex i ovioulsy wount be able to afford a rapptor

he then went on to say that if i became a indoor member of the club i get put before the other people not a member of the indoor club in the waiting list

i feel that i am now at a limit with my twister bell 47 and really want to move on so i dont really no what to do

also on my visit there was a 3d masters judge heli flyer there who had a twister 3d with him. He did a great 3d flight with it and so could this be a slightly cheaper option to keep me occupied. i think he had mostly the stock parts on i apart from the gyro

any comments would be very greatly recieved
    Tom

If you've almost got the cash for the raptor - get the raptor!
Don't get me wrong, I love flying my Trex 450 about, but the larger heli's are simply better.

If they have a large waiting list for membership, you really need to be looking elsewhere.
They probably have too many members - many of whom never show up... which is sad for people like you who would go every available time (probably! )
    Cheers,

        Tom, are you Fleet, Hampshire?

If so I expect the indoor meet was the one that Graham over at heis online is always wittering on about.

Don't go down the Trex route, you'll get bored of it as quickly as you got tired of the one you have, keep saving and get a proper heli, once you are experienced the Trex becomes fun again.

There is a group who meet up on a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning over at Deepcut, I've flown there a few times and they are a good bunch.

There is another site down the A31 past Ropley which has an excellent gathering of heli flyers and me!! good site too.

lol, no waiting lists, I had a real problem finding a place when I started which is why I travelled about a bit. I even ended up at a right shadey place down in the west country for a time

I can give you contact details if you need them.

Just looked on google maps and Pirbright looks like the place near Deepcut, must be the same site.

Get the raptor, dont go down the electric route. You'll find flying the raptor 50 far more easily. Those little trex's are very twitchy for a newbie i rekon.
Dont know what id do about the club. I taught myself to fly because i got sick of my local club as they were more plank flyers. The very few people that flew helis there always felt left out. They all went there own ways in the end. Its a shame people separate helis/planks sometimes. After all its the same hobby really.

you try telling the people at the club that i was told that the t-rex's are just as stable and smooth as a raptor

lol, Graham was horified when I told him I was quitting Trex's - he loves electrics, the smaller the better.

Anyone who tell you a Trex is as stable as a 50 should not be allowed anywhere near helis as they are clearly incompetent.

Think the problem with people who fly Trex's a lot is the fact that they get so used to them that in their eyes they are as easy to fly/as stable as a Rappy. Always amuses me when people whine on on here about how twitchy Trex type helis are, I have 2, once you get used to them they are pussycats

Now I've started using my Rappy again I can see where they are coming from as it just sits there and unless the wind is blowing hard it's almost possible to put Tx on floor and go have a cup of tea

Graham said that? wow, I wouldn't like to call him incompetent as he's a good bloke and he know's his stuff, but I guess he's as pro electric as Ade is anti.

If he says it again ask him if you can have a go on his if it's so stable

Tell him my PiccoZ is far more stable that his trex will ever be.
