  • Heli Training Required

Does anyone know of a place in the Ellesmere Port/Chester area that does RC Heli training, I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a Raptor 30/50 and would like to get some hands on before I buy. I've had a look around and I can't seem to find anywhere near me, I don't drive so getting about is limited.

    Thanks.

    Adam.

Sorry, I don't know your area but I have to say something.

How you gonna carry a 50 and all the field gear without a car?

I hope you have some very good friends

I know because I'm in the same boat (it sux) but I do have a field close by (just got back as it happens) but carrying all the battery/starter gear etc not to mention the heli, is a bloody heavy load I tells you

    My back hurts..

Hehe, I look forward to the backache ...

I'm hoping to make some friends at a club and then ask for a lift when they go out, not forgetting to offer petrol money.

To be honest, people on here have told me the best way to go is nitro, but I just can't find any clubs near me and I doubt the neighbours would be happy if I was flying a nitro heli in my garden. I'm starting to think I may have to go the electric heli route as I should be okay with a Trex 450SE in the garden, just.

We'll see, I just keep finding obstacles with this hobby, but I'm determined so I'll continue no matter what hurdle is next.

        Thanks,

        Adam.

Don't let me put you off Adam, I'm only kidding

It's a great hobby but these Nitro jobbies are big!!
Saying that, Nitro is best although leccys obviously have their place.

I hope you do have the opportunity to get the back ache
I took my rappy 30 out for it's (and mine) maiden flight today. Just gentle hovering but the wind pushed it up. (I'm a noob) The wind in the field was pretty strong. I burned 3 tanks and had a blast. My little indoor leccy was invaluable as a training aid, believe it or not!

Get yourself a rather large sports bag from Argos, the 86cm+ or so size, page 1300
A 30 will fit with the tail hanging out the back a lil bit.

            Hehe, thanks for the suggestion.

I currently own a Century Lama IV, it's very basic and I'm just looking to get hold of more realistic heli such as the Trex 450SE as soon as I can.

I'm gonna get myself a Spektrum DX7 and the Phoenix RC Sim at the end of the month, so that should give me a bit more experience. Then at the end of Feb I'll try and get the Trex 450SE V2, then maybe by summer I can look at getting my first Nitro. Thats the plan, I hope.
