  • The......WIFE!!

Hi to all and a super new year!
Now you all offer great advice on heli's, radio's that type of thing...
But i'm sure i'm not the only 1 to have me ear chew off by the wife each time i wanna take out me heli's! Example.. I was tinkering with my 50 scale airwolf ready 4 the off when it started! When you gonna be back, spose i'm in on my own again la la la.... So i quitely told her to zip it! She shoved the airwolf clean off the table brakeing the guns and left rear fin!! I'm tell you now that day she wore 3 shoes 2 on her feet and 1 in her backside! I did stop flying for a few months but i ain't gonna let her turn my hobby into a phase.. So has any1 had the same greif or do you all have understanding partner's??? steve c

ps thanks for letting rant on but i do feel better it!!
    Cheers Steve c...

I'd be good at flying if it weren't for the ground

    Raptor 90 se,Os 91...sadley sold..
    Raptor 30 v2,Os 37... sold..

I get Rolling eyes, sarcastic comments and generally grief all the time! And I fly once a week if I'm lucky...I usually do an hour or so maintenance most nights though and get hell on earth for it.
Usually because I'd rather do that than watch shite on telly ie Emmerdale, Eastenders etc I get accused of abandonment

Now I have a 60 size heli I've been ordered to get a shed by the end of the month

Balls to em'....I work hard and I'm a good dad- I dont drink much, dont see much of mates so BALLS missus It's MY hobby
      Cheers,

      Gazza

My wife never minds me going out flying she some times comes with me
          Guess im just lucky
Id say to those who are getting hen pecked dont back down dont let her indoors spoil your hobby, A mans hobby is very important
compromise with her make some special time for her each week ask her what she wants to do
Then if she isnt happy pack her bags and **** her off
Get a few like minded modellers to move into your house pay rent and you can buy more heli`s and beer

My better half is not bad, i go every other saturday and evenings in the summer. I have the Skyfox and the X-treme on a shelf in our bedroom with the flightbox and fuel in the hallway near the front door. All maintainnce is done on the dining room table. The only thing she puts her foot down on is the smell of epoxy (fish glue), she hates it

I used to race off road every sunday without fail which she didnt mind too much but saturdays (heli day at our club) seems to annoy her a bit.

So all in all not bad. However should she ever smash one in rage I would have to think carefully about the position of the new patio and re-think the list of qualities for the kids new mum!

I've got 11 models of my own and nearly always have at least 3 other customers models in the house, plus loads of spares, fuel, starting gear, radio gear and various tools etc. all crammed into a relatively small 3 bed semi. I've got no room for a misses

                        Well that was until recently

As G-Dave says she just needs training! years ago I used to have some serious bust ups over the time and money I put into planes/helis. At one time I remember chucking my tranny at the wall! I aimed it at her but she ducked! cost me a new tx! that time It was me that learned the lesson!

Nowadays I try to build some browny points by doing something for her like taking her dog out when I take my dog out! I have a black Lab, shes got a Jack Russell, if I take the JR out shes as happy as a sandboy! Try doing a bit of washing up or somethin! that gets em in a good mood. Its all Physcology/Kidology really.

E.G I am after a nice Predator Gasser so first I have to work on the missus, I have my own business so I gives her a few extra days of and shes happy with that, then I gradually work on letting her know how badly my stocks of helis are by telling her I really need another one because some of them are getting worn out/tired/knackered etc this will bring her into the sympathetic mode by making her believe shes had all the fun and Ive had none!!! before you know it shes jumping up and down on me and offering me whatever I want!!

                          PS
                          Hope shes not reading this!

                          Dave

Mine's been very good considering I bought my first 50 in June this year (after getting hooked on a Honey Bee) and have spent about £2200 so far already in field kit, spares and a T-Rex Note to self: Never add it all up!
She is interested and joined me up the field quite often over the summer. She has even had a go on a Synergy (on a buddy box) and flys the piccoZ around the living room. We did have a little bust up a while back but that was because I was spending loads of time on Reflex and here gassing with you lot
                            Cheers, Lee.

Well I race my Porker on track days, mess around with the helis, rebuilt my pickup truck (total rebuild, respray, new engine etc) Play on Xbox etc...

But my wife is very supportive but I do have to include time for her and keep her feeling special. Take her out for a meal and NEVER underestimate the power of buing a bunch of flowers without having to...i.e. not a birthday...I bet that if you bought flowers on Tuesday and then announced on Thrusday that you would be flying on Sat / Sun you would get away with it easily!
The older I get, the faster I was!
