    Hi

Right well as usual im new to rc helis. I bought a mini pred a week ago and have so far spent around 100 quid fixing it after a moment of madness.

    Couple of questions.
First any idea whether the pred is any good?
Is it worth replacing breakable parts with aluminium?
Should i get a different chopper rather than spend any more money fixing this on?

And is it always this hard to learn to fly?

Any and all help much appreciated

The thing is there small electric helis are not ideal to learn on there twitchy and not as stable as the larger machines.

I'd avoid upgrading to metal shiny parts for now.

join a Club and get it setup and advice locally then you wil be a lot better off.

A nice little heli but not ideal for learning,i recommend Discs advice or if you can afford it,get something like the Perkins Bell47 Twister, these are a basic heli but very stable, very strong and a good introduction to the hobby..Hold on to the Mini Pred until your skill level improves

      good luck

        Thanks

Right well last night crashed again and bent the feathering shaft AGAIN! Went to a model shop to get a new one and while i was there realised my rotor blades were cracked. I know you recommend not buying shiny bits but bought a pair of carbon blades. Just refitted and tried again and the difference is amazing it is so much easier to control. Cant believe you were keeping that secret from me. One other question would be do i need to adjust anything when a new aluminium gearbox i ordered arrives or do i simply change the plastic for alu and carry on?

        Thanks

to be a bit boring. You need to be very very patient with this hobby. Really joining a club or at least finding so like minded fellow to talk to is a minimum.good luck

The only advice I can offer mate is this.
You've shelled out on some carbon blades & they'll be cost effective compared to the wooden ones as long as you dont crash in the house or around concrete. If you do Your blade bill will double & you'll be better with woods. (Been there )

If you crash on grass You'll generally get away with not damaging them- Provided you shut the motor off quickly enough
                Cheers,

yea my Knight wouldn't cost that to fix in a crash!!!

My Raptor 30 bill was often 60 inc blades!

Glad I don't fly small electrics!

                        Hi

I’m in the same position as you. I was always crashing and getting fed up with the repair bills .I bought phoenix and spent hours on it over Christmas flying all sorts of Helicopters.
Anyway I took my Trex out on Tuesday in gusty conditions way above my skill level, ok it was a bit dodge losing control but every time I got it back .Sims seam to teach you instinctive stick movement .I went home buzzing with a hele I can fly the next time. I believe the sim had a lot to do with not spending 50 quid on repairs over the last couple of week, so it’s paying for its self over time.

                        Best Wishes

Spent around 100 quid fixing it after a moment of madness.

I cant see how you could spend that amount fixing your mini pred unless your including the price of the carbon blades as well, surly you would be better just buying another kit for £90 and have lots of spares leftover.

If the Mini Pred is anything like the Twister CP,I found the cost of spares out of all proportion to what you actually get and seem overpriced.

A main shaft and gear (all in one unit) about £5.00.Really flimsy stuff and the mainshaft bends real easy. The cost for something like the battery carrier which comprises small pieces of moulded plastic and some 2mm carbon rod was around £9.00.The landing gear is a joke at the price.

Something like a Dragonus,a pack of three mainshafts and a pack of two main gears about £11.00,bigger and a lot better quality.

                              Agreed mate. It's ridiculous.

I had a Twister CPV2 before the Swift which I'm sure You're aware is a Raptor 30 size electric heli...The parts were the same price as the Twister micro Rip off, Rip off, Rip off.

Saying that, its a bloody good way to get rich- The Mark-up must be colossal.
                              Cheers,
