  • Help A Newbie Gal

    Hi All,

I've recently (2 days ago) bought myself a Caliber 3 .... just getting round to installing the radio gear, but when i apply full throttle, the tail rotor moves too
Also when applying rudder, it works ok when i apply right stick, but when i try left rudder, it doesnt move at all.

All servos have been centralised prior to attaching the servo arms.

We have tried all sorts of methods to prevent or try and stop this, but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone shed some light onto this?

    It's doin my head in!!

    Thanks

    Caz

i assume this is an electric micro? if so, what you described is normal. the tail rotor is driven by a small electric motor, which will only opperate to act against the turning torque of the main rotors, the more throttle you give, the more tail it will have to give to counteract the power of the mains.

you got any pics of it?

Im far from an expert, but from what your saying its sounds like you could have some revo mixing setup on your radio (I think its revo mixing)
From what I have read, its used mainly on the non heading hold gyros to help compensate for the torque when you throttle up (permission granted to other members to slap me round the head if im wrong as memory is starting to fail with each and every day lol)

Not sure if thats related to why the tail only moves in one direction when you move the rudder stick, but it is a possibility.

Hopefully, some more experienced people will be able to help you more than I have tried, but it could be worth checking about the revo mixing in your radio.

what mark said is correct, but in the case of small "basic" electric helicopters you have no option for anything like revo mixing, but the on-board 3-in-1 mixer board does this for you (adjustable normally by 2 small pots on the side). the tail motor will only ever spin one way

thanks guys, managed to suss out the problem, was the revo mixing on the transmitter.

it's all ok now, bit too late now to test fly though, i'll post some pictures when i take some.

Thanks for all your help though, much appreciated.
