  • Blades removed after session?

Hi, I used to fly helis back in the early 90's, albeith total beginner, pretty much as now as I have gone back to the hobby. At the time I was advised to remove the blades after each flying session, the aim being to allow the bolts, grips, and the blade to be checked over. Nowdays, I don't tend to see the blades being removed, is there a reason for this, I assume the blades are more robust nowdays?

Most will fly with Carbon Fibre blades, or at worst Glass Fibre. I guess with the advent of better composites and materials used for blade grips etc it negates the need for removing blades.

Most if not all, fold the blades back and let a foam blade caddy take the weight.

Most just fold away using a caddy mate. No need to remove although it would ensure no knocks or dings around the home, car etc.

I only take mine off when they are smashed and for the bin liner!!! LOL

If you're already in the routine of taking them off and inspecting the grips, bolts and blades then why not stick to it? It's not a bad place to start your post-flying check-up. Might save you a heli one day.

Only issue keep taking the blades off after each session is that these blades are being held on with nyloc nuts eventually these will have to be replaced, in work we used nyloc nuts and have to be be replaced every fourth time off being removed.
