  • Robbe Moskito Startup

    Hello,
I have been flying a T Rex now for a few months and am able to move it around a reasonable amount (no nose in yet though!).

Recently i was given a dusty old chopper called a Robbe Moskito complete with almost all the bits and bobs to get it going. I've now got some fuel and a glow plug warmer as these were missing.
I have set it up using my JR X2610 and the JR receiver from the T Rex . All the servos seem to be doing the right thing. How do i go about giving this thing a test run (no flying yet) at home to make sure it is all functioning correctly?
I have no manual with this helicopter and cannot get one from Robbe any ideas on where one could be found. I am quite happy to pay photocopying and postage expenses if somebody has one.
I understand that i will not be able to fly the Moskito at the field near me as it is too big and noisy and will be venturing to my local club when i have time.
Thanks for anyone who can help me. All the best.

There are few versions of the moskito. I was offered a moskito expert but i found this had been replaced by the sport a few years ago. Is there any indication of which model moskito you have?

The above link will give the exploded diagrams of some of the different models.

I used to fly a MOskito SPort, and I might still have the manual, however I can't check until the weekend, as I'm talking to you from the USA at the moment.

As for testing it at home. . . . . . . . I would advise you waited until you're at a flying field, with some experianced help. . . . . . . I know this from bitter experiance, but don't have the time to tell the whole story !

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

TAKE IT TO AN EXPERIENCED HELI PILOT!!!!!!

But seriously, go get it checked out at a club by someone who knows their stuff.

My first heli was checked out, amended as necessary and given its maiden flight by an experienced clubmate.

My 2nd heli was checked out by the same experienced club mate, needed no ammendments and was then given it's maiden flight by said clubmate.

My 3rd heli was checked out by the same experinenced club mate, needed no ammendments and was given its maiden flight by me.

My 4th and 5th helis weren't checked out by anyone else, and were given their maiden flights by me.

As you can imagine, each heli was more expensive than the one before, from a Scuttle at No1 to my Millenium 90 at No5, so the liability for loss got ever bigger. However, I'm now confident enough to check out other peoples helis, and have even spent this evening checking out and giving a maiden flight to a club mate's Scuttle.

        It's a progress thing isn't it?

But you need to start with some experienced hands at your side.

          Hi Chaps,
          Thanks for the replies.
After a bit more digging the heli i have is the Moskito Basic. I have downloaded the Moskito Sport II manual from the rcheliaddict link above and quite a lot of it seems to be similar to mine. I will have a good look at this.
As for starting the engine up i will curb my enthusiasm/intrigue/stupidity to just turning it over without the glowplug in to check that it is nice and free. I will then wait until i can get to my local club for some proper advice.
By the way what size battery do you normally use for the starter - i have available eight 12v 7Ah batteries - are these too small for use - they have the advantage of being nice and light.
